Are Carrots Bad?

    Are Carrots Bad?

I have a 6 yr old Maltese that absolutely LOVES carrots!  Are carrots bad for her to eat?  She wants to eat lots.  Is is ok?  I don't want her to get sick or anything.

I have owned multiple carrot loving dogs.  Just consider the portion size for the dog and let them have good snacks.  Slice them thin and you have low calorie training treats.

Marshall used to take one carrot a day from the carrot barrel. He would stand in front of the refrigerator each morning for his carrot before I went to work.   He would remind me with one precise bark if I got to get him his carrot.

It was one of the best teethers for a ridgeback pup. The only thing with carrot is that, unmodified (unground or uncooked) it pretty much just passes through the dog - which is what makes it a great low calorie treat. But there are no untowards effects....except maybe orange poop....which is kind of funny.

I took Baily to visit my grandmother one day.  She decided that he looked hungry and needed a snack. (She was always doing that to us as kids as well).  The only thing she had that was remotely doggy appropriate was carrots.  Well, what do you know...Baily loves them!  Baby carrots out of the fridge with his breakfast...about 4-6 at a time (he weighs 65 pounds).  Doesn't get them every day...chews carefully and always poops orange !!

GREAT!  I'm so glad to know it's ok for her to have them!  I give her the little baby carrots, too.  I can only get my kids to eat carrots if they're baby carrots, so I keep those around.  They think the big carrots look weird. LOL

I give whole unpeeled (washed) carrot sticks to my guys as a chewy treat.  They love it, and do fine with them.

My guys won't touch raw carrots, but they love canned.

Mine will eat GRATED raw carrots, but not whole.  However they loved cooked carrots.

My dog loves carrots, and to exercise him, we throw one across to the other side of the house. Then come on command. Another carrot. Process repeats about 10 times

Shippo likes to toss the carrot around and play with it, before he "kills" it/eats it lmfao... Eevee can eat a whole carrot in less than a minute.

Aww, you guys are bringing back some fond memories.  My first Lab, KC, loved carrots.  LOVED them.  She'd take them outside and go to town on them.  She also loved watermelon rinds.

I have another black Lab now, Cole, who thinks that raw veggies are minions of Satan.  The only time he ever ate veggies was when I had my chocolate Lab (and she would eat ANYthing) and he only ate them to prevent Bunny from getting any!

Oh  how I wish he would eat carrots, but alas.

Do you feed your dog canned carrots with added salt?  My  vet told me to feed my dog unsalted canned veggies and I can't find unsalted carrots anywhere?

I give baby carrots as treats, and my crew loves them. Of course, I live with the three biggest garbage disposals on the planet so I'm only surprised if they *don't* like something.

LOL! The other day I dropped a raw egg, shell and all, on the floor. For about 1/2 a second I contemplated picking it up with a paper towel.....then I called Yoshi.
