If you know the difference then why are you asking? You're quizzing me now?

I'm very sorry if I upset you; I've always considered you a friend. I was just curious as to what you meant; it's your opinion then that most dogs who have a problem with grains aren't allergic to them but show dietary intolerance?

Oops, I'm really sorry.... [&:] I've always considered you a friend also. I guess I can be too sensitive sometimes. I feel like a grade A a-hole! [8|]

Anyway, I didn't mean that dogs can't be allergic to grains because I think wheat is one of the top allergens. But it seems like most of the time ingredients like corn gluten meal, barley etc. cause other health problems rather than just being an allergy. Dogtor J is much better at explaining it than I am! I was actually going to point out that Nutro had its own plant too, but Ron beat me to it while I was away from the internet (for once!). I wanted to see Ron fall over from shock when I brought up Nutro positively. Darn, I missed my chance. [sm=rotfl.gif]

Next chance I get, Ron, have this emoticon at the ready:

I believe Blackwood also operates their own plant in South Carolina (not connected with Diamond's plant in Gaston). They make a premium Catfish and Potato, a Lamb and rice, and a super high energy formula (not holistic) for sled dogs and other working dogs.

Don't feel that way; I should have worded the question differently. It did appear confrontational. I find your opinion interesting because Jessie reacts to chicken by chewing her feet and scratching her ears, but when she was on kibble with corn she had very soft to loose stools. When she was changed to a food with rice, her stools were firmer. Is Dogtor J a website?

Yup, the link Jennie posted is "Dogtor J". That's just his nickname; he's a veterinarian of many years who has a lot of experience with nutrition. Edited to add that Dogtor J's site has a ton of information. It is a little wordy and hard to sift thru though!

Gingerbread has the same reaction to corn. I gave him a Booda Velvet bone (made of corn starch) a few weeks ago. He ate about half of it in one sitting and then I picked it up to save for another day. A few hours later he RAN to his puppy pad and had a huge, soft bowel movement. I threw away the rest of that bone and won't be buying him another one! [;)]

Now, I don't have any feelings left. I don't know what you're going to do about me, now, with no feelings left to hurt.[:D]
