    OMG She stinks!!!!!

I have just recently tried trinity on california natural, and OMG her farts are unbearable!!!

Should This be a red flag for anything?
The first week she had diahrea on it, but that has stopped, but the farts have not, and this is going onto week # 3  of the food...

Her coat is still gorgeous, and she is still recupperating from the fleas, again, so I don't know if she has any sensitivities to it, other then the repulsive smell frequently coming from her....Crying

If that were my dog, I would think that there was something in the food that is disagreeing with your dog.  I would try another brand.

My dog had gas when I first switched her to Timberwolf Organics but they went away in about a month. My dog has a sensitive stomach though, so any kind of stomach upset when I change a food is expected from me. I don't know if I would change yet...give it a little more time and see if they go away.

A month!!  I wouldn't put up with the indoor air pollution for that long.  My dog very rarely has gas and I cannot imagine I would stick with even "Magic Miracle Nutrition Pellets" for a whole month if she was stinking up the joint.

That's why I never buy large first bags of any kibble even if it is a little more per pound to buy small.

From everything I've read and been told, you need to try a food for at least 6-8 weeks (except in the case of a severe reaction, i.e. prolonged vomiting or diarrhea) to get a true result. That said, I've noticed things rarely change after 3 weeks. That's # of weeks of being on the new food alone, not including transition time.

She did have a transition time, so she has only been on the food straight for about a week.

The guy at the petfood store said there would be a transition, and that her body would be getting rid of all the yuckies left in her system.

I think I may change over to EVO after I finish this bag anyways. I have some tester bags, and both my babies will pick that, over the stuff in their bowls, so I'll let them have their ways, lol.

She's probably going through that typical period of detox.  Expect it to last 4-6 weeks.

I just started my dog on a new food and his farts are bad, and quite different from what they used to be on the old food.

The detox symptoms are different depending upon the quality of the food you're switcing from, to that of what you're going to, in my opinion.  Meaning: if there is a large disparity in food quality, expect detox to last longer and have much worse symptoms than if you're making a somewhat lateral move in quality.

When I adopted my late chocolate lab, she had been eating shelter food (probably JOY or something like that) and I switched her to the Kirkland Lamb & Rice they sell at CostCo (made by Diamond, actually quite a good food).  This dog had gobs of fur coming off her and some of the oiliest fur and worst dandruff and dog stink for the next month.  I was beginning to think I had made a mistake!

And then at the six week mark, almost like magic, she changed.  Her dandruff ceased completely, her coat had restored some luster, and she became a beautiful dog!

So while I know it is tempting to doubt yourself and try something new, stick it out!  It will only prolong the agony if you keep switching, switching, switching.  Detox is what it is - the body remakes tissue with the better nutrients, that it made with the lesser food, and it takes time for the body to expel the old.

Have you tried adding a bit of plain yogurt or a commercial probiotic? She may just need a bit or help for her digestive systems bacteria and enzymes to adjust to digesting that particular type of food.

No, I haven't, I didn't know I could or anything. I will go out and buy some, and see if it helps :)

Your dog may have a digestive reaction to a new food due to a requirement to induce new digestive enzymes (should take no longer than three weeks), or lack of good gut bacteria (dose them with probiotics, should cure the problem within a week). If still gas or diarrhea, switch foods.
