What is the worst dog food in existence?

I'm just curious. I thought it was Beneful, but purina claims they use only chicken, beef, lamb, or other rtaised animals (?)

Might get more input in the "Nutrition" area of the forum...if you'd like me to move this there just let me know.
• Gold Top Dog
Yes, pleas and thanks. Sorry, I forgot about the nutrition thread!

Hmmm.  There are alot of bad dog foods.

I'm going to say Kibbles and Bits (barely any meat and lots of sugar and salt)
NGREDIENTS: Corn, soybean meal, ground wheat flour, beef & bone meal, animal fat (BHA used as preservatives), corn syrup, wheat middlings, water sufficient for processing, animal digest (source of chicken flavor), propylene glycol, salt, hydrochloric acid, potassium chloride, caramel color, sorbic acid (used as a preservative), sodium carbonate, choline chloride, minerals (ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, manganous oxide, copper sulfate, calcium iodate, sodium selenite), vitamins (vitamin E supplement, niacin supplement, vitamin A supplement, d-calcium pantothenate, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement), calcium sulfate, titanium dioxide, yellow 5, red 40, yellow 6, BHA (used as a preservative), dl-methionine.

Followed by Purina Moist and Meaty (way too much sugar)
Beef, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Soybean Grits, Soybean Flour, Water, Wheat Flour, Corn Syrup, Calcium Carbonate, Brewers Condensed Solubles, Phosphoric Acid, Salt, Sorbic Acid (added to prevent spoilage), Dried Cheese Powder (predominantly cheddar cheese), Calcium Propionate, (added to prevent spoilage), DL-Methionine, Choline Chloride, Added Color (Yellow 6, Red 40, Yellow 5 and other color), Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Vitamin Supplements (E, B-12, A, D-3), Ethoxyquin (a preservative), Riboflavin Supplement, Manganese Sulfate, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Copper Sulfate, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (source of vitamin K activity), Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite.

And then Ol' Roy, which I can't find an ingredient list for on the internet.  Their imatation of Dog Chow is bad, but their imatation of Kibbles and Bits is worse than Kibbles and Bits.  What makes me so frustrated with Kibbles and Bits feeders is that they wouldn't buy the cheapest coffee or the cheapest pair of shoes, but they'll buy the cheapest dog food.  If only their dog could talk.  Sigh.

I'm gonna go with this one - $2.99/18 lbs - made by a flour mill in Oklahoma and obviously just a way to get rid of their leftovers. I'd rather see corn as a first ingredient than wheat!

Hungry Hound: Wheat Middlings, Ground Corn, Meat & Bone Meal, Soybean Meal, Wheat Flour, Animal Fat (Preserved with BHA, Citric Acid, Propyl Gallate), Calcium Carbonate, Salt, Wheat Germ Meal, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Pantothenate, Niacin Supplement, Folic Acid, Riboflavin Supplement, Menadione Dimethylpyramidinol Bisulfite, Biotin, Choline Chloride, Manganous Oxide, Copper Sulphate, Zinc Oxide, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide, Ferrous Sulphate, Sodium Selenite, and Vitamin B-12 Supplement

It's bad, but I'm sure there's worse foods, as Kelly has shown.

The ingredient list is rather unspecific.  They probably could have just put "A bunch of stuff your dog can eat" on the label and it wouldn't make a difference with their target customer.

I think the brand Kelly posted "Hungry Hound" is probably the worst, closely followed by Fit n Trim, Ol Roy, Kibbles n Bits, and Moist n Meaty. [:-]

But 4% meat??!!! That is just disgusting, and something i wouldnt be advertising if i was the manu. However, this is a Brit brand and by law they HAVE to use human grade ingredients in pet foods AND state the % of meat.....

When I lived in MS, there was a little scratch-and-dent grocery store near our house. We always went there to buy the dented cans of pumpkin for dirt cheap. Anyway, they had something called the "Brown Bag Special," which was shipped to them by Purina. Apparantly, it was a bunch of different leftover Purina brands all mixed into one brown mystery bag. Yikes!

I have no best or worst.  Except, the worst would be the one/ones my dogs do the worst on and the best would be the one/ones they do the best on.

Probably anything you can buy at a gas station...or that ol' yeller food at kroger
