Why is Timberwolf back in favor?

Why is Timberwolf back in favor?

Just a few months ago almost everyone was down on TO.

They had no customer service, mixed types of kibble in the same bag, bag ingredients not matching the web site info, no expiration dates of bags, the surprising finding that Diamond manufactured their product (remember Aflatoxin?) , etc. Kelly (sooner) has this and more documented in many of her excellent posts.

Yes, their ingredient list looks good, but 9 months ago, most people felt the negatives outweighed the positives.

    I'm just curious.

I like Timberwolf regardless of any of their past mistakes.
I won't feed any other kibble.

I have no idea what actually went wrong in the past as I was not here when it all went down. But, my dog can eat their kibble and NOT get the runs, so it's good to me!

I tried it because of all the hoopla.  Sis picked up a bag for me downstate.  I wasn't impressed.  The kibble is teeny and took my guys some getting used to to even eat it, and their poop was bigger, darker and not as firm.

The hoopla is also why I tried it.

I liked the teeny kibble size, perfect for a Maltese. Bailey ate the first bag fine, but wouldn't touch the second. I smelled it and it smelled rancid. All the other negatives came out about the same time, so I switched to EVO. Oddly, Baileys poop is the perfect consistancy with EVO, unlike some reports of loose stools.

Well, I for one have had excellent results with this food and have been feeding it for over a year. My guys do fantastic on it. I don't know about any past posts as I am fairly new here, about diamond plants, I do know that "most" pet food companies do not own "plant" but sub out there food to other comapnies that do own plant and the food is made there. It has very little to do with TWO or any other food company that does this, as I said most do it. I did have something like this in another post, I mean I am saying that I did find a kibble with a funny shape kibble  in it, that by no means says Ill stop using this product. I love this product!!  The rest of the stuff is true, terrible customer service , no phone type professional message, no e-mails back. All that 100% correct11[sm=rofl.gif]

I haven#%92t been here more than few months so I am not sure what went on in the past with previous posings. YES they have crappy CS, but as far as products go I feel they are excellent. With JJ having food related allergies this has been the ONLY food I have yet to find that doesn#%92t cause allergy problems for him, results in decent poop and his coat looks FAR better than when I fed Canidae, EVO or any of the other super premium.  I have had NO problems with shipping so as long as my pups thrive on it and I can get it delivered to my door (there are almost NO stores in town that carry it locally)…then I will continue to feed!

I've been wondering the same thing Randall, although it makes sense that people would want to try it for themselves. I'm glad it works for some people, I tried it because of all the hoopla and really wanted to like it and for it to work out, but it didn't.

Any one of those things wouldn't be big deal, but in fact that company had all of those and I didn't feel like the results were worth it. It was a big downgrade from the Canidae they had been on. We had to feed more, and had more output, and their skin and coats got worse... all that plus the high cost and the hassels and shady business of the company made me never want to buy it again.

They were supposed to improve after they moved, but I haven't seen anything impressive. Their customer service is hit and miss (seems like they only answer if they can answer positively, plus they have stock anwsers that don't address the questions) and their quality control may still be questionable. In case of a problem or issue, I want there to be a company with customer service behind the products that I feed, and Timberwolf most certainly does not stand behind their product.

Remember when you were looking on their site and were sent several bags of food you didn't order and weren't charged? You posted a thread about it and some members said they were tempted to take advantage of the glitch but decided not to; then someone working for TO offered free food to some members in appreciation of their honesty. They liked the food and I think that's how TO started becoming popular here.

Timberwolf has done some strange things, but [linkhttp://www.ourdogsonline.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/62516/page/21/fpart/1]this[/link] has to be one of the strangest [8|]

Yesterday I received an email to my dogfoodproject.com inbox from someone who asked me about the kcal content per cup of TWO foods, stating that several inquiries to TWO on the topic were unsucessful, and that finally the person was directed to my website to ask me.

Of course I wanted to find out what this is all about and asked the person who emailed me what exactly was going on. The answer was that customer service directed them to me, claiming they were instructed to do that to anyone inquiring about this topic, that I was more accurate at giving the correct amount than they were, and it was difficult for them to calculate it, and that I was doing this for many other companies also. This reader also said Mark Heyward (the owner of TWO) gave them a hard time about this question.

I just don't get it. This is the second time recently that a reply from TWO customer service really gave me a "WTF" moment...

I never did get the return tag they were going to send me. Kristy answered a couple of my e-mails, then nothing... I haven't seen Carol around here or on ODO (she posted there too) in a long time.

IMO if a company doesn't know enough to calculate kilocalories per cup then how can they know enough to formulate a properly balanced food?

wasn't here 9 months ago so wasn't aware of the problems
tried the samples and I like the smell and ingredient list
my young very large dog has allergies most significantly to eggs and now it appears chicken and turkey too
the eggs alone limits our 'quality' food options to very few
I'm not impressed with NB (extremely expensive when one figures cost for a set amount of calories but one of our best options) and prefer a food with higher protein content
Canidae informed me that egg is included in their all life stages even though it is not listed on their bag - now that is bad form.  Tried the new canidae lamb nothing special
Don't know where else to turn. I supplement with some raw but won't go completely away from kibble for total nutrition.  So we will try some TO and if it is nothing special it will be back to purina pro plan sensitive stomach & skin
I'm fortunate in that Bugsy will eat whatever you put in his bowl with tremendous verve

It's very unfortunate that this is happening, period. I have said before my dogs have allergies and it's been a long, long road to try and find a food for both of them and their individual needs. TWO has accomplished this for "my"dogs, thats all I can speak of. I think that we all do what we feel is best for our babies and it's very apparent that we love them all very much. I have said this knowing that people will feed their dogs food i would never consider buying, that is their choice and I can drag up thousands of reasons and what abouts to back this up. Thats not my style. Let's hope for the best with all of this and give a fairly new comapny a break, they do care about the animals, that's apparent.  Most of the time , there are still two sides to every story. [:D]
