    Ohmigosh! Ben ate . . .

Ben ate three POUNDS of EVO RM! That's like, I don't know, about ten cups?

And I fed him both meals, too, unaware he had done it! (two more cups of EVO and a 16 oz veggie/duck egg/coconut oil/salmon smoothie). My hubby was "watching" them yesterday and had forgotten to put the bag away after I fed them. I just started him on the coconut oil and I think it's making him a bit hungry - I know it is making me kind of weird and "sped up" feeling. [;)]

Now here's the crazy thing. Except for being darned thirsty and looking like he's swallowed a watermelon, I've seen no ill effects. Poops frequent but normal. Thank God for a varied diet and premium foods. This IS the dog that can eat a 14 pound duck every three days or ten pounds of lamb at a sitting, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. [8|]

What surprises me is that I actually can keep this dog fed without going into bankruptcy.

[sm=lol.gif]  TOO TRUE isn't it!   Glad been is Ok after his feast![;)]

Oh My. BEN!! Why're you and Doug determined to send your mama into a dog-food scare induced coma??

Glad so far he's doing Ok. Last thing you need right now is TWO dogs with pancreatitis. Good thing it was the RM formula, and not chicken, aye?

Oh for sure - I wouldn't be writing, I'm sure, as I'd be at Dr. Cowan's most likely holding Ben's paw, were it chicken. However, the chicken EVO is not 100% chicken, too so it wouldn't be as deadly as the stuff I just bought which has chicken and chicken meal as the only two protein sources. THAT stuff is going into the pantry, locked in a dog proof container.

Normally the food is stored on top of the upright freezer, but a great storage place does no good when it comes to a) clever dogs and b) absentminded caretakers.

Ben doesn't share that bloodline that Doug has and Rick did, with the sensitive pancreas. Rachel's Tess does, though - but absentminded is about the last word that comes to mind when I think of Rachel!

Hmm. Someone forgot to tell him what we do with animals fattened up over the winter, in spring! (ie, the lambs . . . [;)])

lol No doubt about that. Is that through Hap or Cass? IOW, does June share it as well?

He must have a tape worm!  LOL  That is what use to be said about anyone that could pack away a large amount of food.....especailly if they ate and lot and stayed thin.  Don't know what started that saying.
    • Gold Top Dog
Prob because that's a side effect of tapeworms - staying thin on a fattening diet. But the dog/person also has other symptoms since they are not getting the nutrition needed. Ben's not sharin' NOTHIN' with no tapes. [;)] Everyone is on a wormer which is also good for tapes (and coccidea) since they are constantly exposed. He just had a physical last month and except for HYPOthyroid levels, passed with flying colors. They used to say that when I was a kid, too!

Laura, I forgot - yes, June's got that gene too. It's Hap's daddy. I can't ever see you leaving the food where June could get it, either - besides, she somehow missed the "food motivated" part of those genetics, didn't she? For that matter, Tess did too, I think. I wonder whether there's a connection. The other dogs I knew that had problems were also food hounds, very unusual for BCs.

Cherokee did something like that once. I bought a bag of Evo cat food, scooped out a little bit for the cats, and then apparently left the bag in reach (up on top of my TALL dresser, in a zip-loc and a grocery bag), and an hour later I go out back, the bag is ripped to shreds in the yard with not even a crumb of the food. [&:] Luckily that was "only" 2 pounds. LOL

You're right - their food is locked away in airtight containers. Yep, June's not particularly a food hog (read that won't go out of her way for it), although she does eat whatever I put in front of her. Tess is even less interested in food than June. There may be a connection!

Coconut oil can actually be used to help you lose weight, particularly if you get the "good" stuff. I'm not sure exactly why, but, yeah... . That is one of it's many uses.

My dogs would like to claim that as their reasoning. Yes, yes, they would. Unfortunately, they've been eating fish oil, this week, so I know it's not true[;)] They said they're still starving, and want a go at three pounds of EVO.
