Abady Classic Granular

    • Gold Top Dog
I never heard of Abady until this last year. Yesterday I received a pamphlet in the mail from the company, I threw it way, but reminded me of the way Wysong talks down most other dog food company's. At least with Wysong, the ingredients are listed on the website. I couldn't find the ingredients for Abady's Granular formulas anywhere, not even on their own website, that is sort of strange. If a food is supposed to be so great, why make it so hard to know what is actually in the food?

Reason being, kibbles cannot be more than 20% meat (traditional production) otherwise it will fall apart and not be a kibble. Abady apparently has solved this problem inherent with kibble and can produce a kibble that stays together and higher than 20% meat.

Eagle Pack Holistic kibbles are 40% meat meal, and TWO is supposed to be about 46% meat meal. Thanks for posting the ingredients of the food Charlie; I have been to the site before but was put off by the fact that none of the ingredients to the formulas were posted. Monica Segal's cooked recipes are higher in protein and fat than most kibbles so the amount of fat doesn't really concern me but some dogs wouldn't be able to tolerate it.

To the best of my knowledge, Abady DOES NOT send out any unsolicited mail (phamlets, flyers, etc.).  If you got something in the mail you either requested that info or somebody without your knowledge had requested info on your behalf.  You actually think Abady needs the business from sending out unsolicited mail?  That is too funny!

I checked out Wysong website and noted their carnivore style approach to marketing.  Interesting to note, they talk a good game but the ingredients read more like the fruit and veggie section at the supermarket.  You want a true carnivore-targeted diet, you go with the company with a 30 year track record of success, that would be Abady.  Most however don't recognize dogs are carnivores but rather omnivores, so anything off the shelf would probably work fine in that respect?

ORIGINAL: jenhuedepohl   Whey protein concentrate is milk-derived and very commonly used in the protein-shake section of health food stores. Body-builders really like the stuff, especially the isolate version because it is a high-quality, easily absorbable protein source.

    Thank you for that info!

Oh, your very welcome.  This is an exclusive BTW, I'm sure there are not many sites out there but dog forum that has this info.  I don't mind posting them here for you folks, but all should keep in mind the pics of the ingredients are the property of me and dog forum, and it is not my intent to share with any other groups or forums.  Please don't copy and repost as a service to any other list, that would not be fair.  The ingredients are for you here only.  You can always recommend to someone they should first sign up as a new user to this list, then view the ingredients off this site in this thread.  I thank you all in advance for respecting that.

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet eating her curds and whey.  I always imagined curds as being like cottage cheese, but had no idea what whey was.  Now I know.

When whole milk is mixed with cutures like rennet and warmed, it forms curds that are strained out and formed into cheese. The cheese curds primarily consist of fat and protein parts of milk. The leftover is mostly water, protein & lactose (the sugar part of milk) and is called whey. So - Little Miss Muffets Curds & Whey is basically fresh, undrained cheese.

All of this valuable information is taking up the space in my brain that could be used to remember my kids' Social Security numbers.

Thanks so much for the info.  By the way, i don't even remember my own social security number, my DL number, etc, but do remember the sound my dad's baseball cleats made on the bleachers when he played sandlot baseball when i was 3 years old!  I thought that the most beautiful sound.

Anway, sounds like that kinda stuff would be good for thd dogs if not allergic to dairy.

Can i ask why? I have no intention of posting the ingredients anywhere else, but cant think of a reason why we couldnt share with anyone else if asked?

As of a couple of months ago www.waggintails.com had all the Abady ingredients listed. They've removed all but a couple of them. Abady really doesn't want their ingredients known, do they?

I think they've made this quite obvious [8|] Even their customers are asking for their ingredients not be given out [sm=asking03.gif]

    Why??Anyone got a theory?

I wish I would have kept the piece of mail, it came in an envelope, but mailed to the name of my kennel, not my personal name. I never requested it. The literature basically talked about all the recent recalls, letting people know how safe their foods are, the benefits of feeding Abady, and a list of places to buy their products. Maybe from some dog show entrys, they got a list of kennel names to send out to.

You can share!  If asked you could alway say head on over to dog forum and sign up and check out the info.  I wouldn't mind you downloading a copy for your own reference.   Once posted they're free game, but it is work I did and intended for this group and this is one of the few sites that have them available.   Not that I don't want to see others have the info, they should come here and check out dog forum and get the hard to find info.

Kennels and breeders are common places to find Abady.  If your local kennel is a distributor and you're a customer maybe they sent them out everyone.  Next time you go away and drop off the dogs, tell him you think the Abady products stink, you get enough junk mail as is, take me off any mailing lists.

I am a breeder, and own my own boarding kennel. We also show at lots of dog shows, so somewhere down the road, I must have gotten on their list. Not complaining I got the info from them, always interested in new products I know nothing about. Abady is a product I have never heard of, and all of a sudden, I am reading about it every where.
