solid gold?

    solid gold?

I was just wondering about your all's experience with solid gold. I've been feeding Innova for about 8 months, and switched to canidae about 2 months ago. I read an article about solid gold, and it sounded really good. It also mentioned that some ingredients that are in canidae weren't so good (lecithin, chicken fat, and sunflower oil) I've been fairly happy with canidae and innova, but i feel like both of the boys poop more than normal (about 4 times a day)
if anyone recommends any of the solid gold, which formula would be best for my dog?

edited: i looked online at barking at the moon, and it sounds kind of like EVO. Would it be suitable for a GSD who will be 2 in november, and a rhodesian ridgeback who will be 1 in november?

I am feeding Solid Gold Hundenflocken to my malinois puppy bitch.  I am pleased with it for the most part.  She does have stools that are less firm than I like but, her turkey neck in the morning typically results in one firm stool to help prevent anal gland problems.  She puts out minimal stool so she is apparently using most of what goes in.

Roxie ate Wolf Cub very briefly.  I wasn't too impressed with it, and she didn't seem to like it much, either.  Foods work differently with each dog, though, so I cannot and will not say it would be a poor choice.  Good luck.

I know they do make a great food, but unfortunately it's not very palatable.  If you have a dog that will eat anything, I would give it a try.

It's great food, but my puppy won't eat it.    If mixed with another food, she'll actually pick out every piece of Solid Gold, throw it on the ground and eat the other kibble.

My pup wouldn't touch Solid Gold Hund-N-Flocken...haven't tried any other Solid Gold formula's since...[8|]

The owner of the company is a crook, I wouldn't use them just because of that.

I just threw out a half eaten bag of Hunderflocken last week.  My dog hated it. She loves Natural Balance, and has been on that ever since.

I've fed HundchenFlocken, HundenFlocken, and BATM (only as treats). My dogs LOVE all three formulas, and did well with them. Emma ended up doing poorly on the regular formulas, when she got sick, but it was b/c she was sick, not b/c of the food.

My dog doesn't like the Lamb formulas (Hundenflocken, Hunchenflocken) but loved the Wee Bits (bison) and Holistic formula (almost vegitarian, only as a treat when I recieved sample bag).

For your big guys I would try their Wolf King for large breed adults or Wolf Cub or large breed pups, which are also Bison based. I've heard of very good results with the food from customers. You could always try the Barking at the Moon formula too which right now is Turkey based.

My only problem with the Wee Bits diet is my dog lost wieght on it and he didn't need to. Other than that his poops were firm and coat was nice.

Hey..Lexington...I am from close to there (an hour east) and lived there and near there and in Frankfort most of my life. Have been in PA for 5 years now!!! HEY LEX!! And I am going home Oct 31 for 5 days....I CAN'T WAIT.. have you been to Keeneland yet this meet?

Anyway, My dogs did not like hundenflocken, but neither did they like canidae. The absolutely love Eagle Pack Holistic-- the Duck and the salmon!! I would like to try Solid Gold BATM, but can't find it where I am now.

I believe the old formulation of BATM was turkey based but the current formulation has salmon meal and beef as the first two ingredients.

Yes, but most retail stores do not currently have the salmon and beef formula on the shelf yet.

I fed Trudy Solid Gold Hundenflaken for a while. It is good food. They always answer the phone and are helpful.

Trudy just does best on the Natural Balance Fish. I feed the kibble, canned and I give her fresh food also.
