What did your dog(s) eat today?

I figured that we all talk about what we feed our dogs in the nutrition section here. I know Ella's diet varies from day to day.
This would not only be a good way to keep track of exactly what is going into your dogs' mouths, but will help us remember what we fed on certain days in case there might be some type of adverse reaction to it. This would be especially helpful for remembering dates certain foods were started if you're doing kibble/dog food trials with your dog.

    So...
Ella hasn't eaten yet today, but yesterday she had a turkey thigh (1lbs) and chicken livers (about 3 ounces worth).
No treats. She wouldn't eat the turkey thigh much at first. She broke into some of the bone, but then she was done. I had to pick it up and put it back in the fridge and she had to wait until dinnertime to get it back and then she INHALED it and the chicken livers.<---THAT'S how you cure a picky dog.[:D]

Today Bubblegum had Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb and Rice kibble with a raw egg yolk, cooked egg whites and about a tablespoon of plain yogurt!     So far!

    .

Consider yourself lucky she ate later...our Ollie WAS a picky dog. He lost many many pounds when we went thru his "picky" time. You could have counted every rib in his body before we finally got him to start eating.

aw. I caved to Ella's pickiness SO many times when we first got her. Then I found out that most of her pickiness was coming from the antibiotic she was on. She just didn't want to eat much period.

I am lucky, and I wish it was as easy for everyone else. I'm sorry you had problems with Ollie. I'm not usually for the tough feeding love approach, but her pickiness was driving me INSANE. Doing the tough love thing is not for every dog though. I can totally understand accomodating a dog's food desires. I used to freak out real bad when Ella wouldn't eat.

So far we just had a few kibbles.  A sort of taste test if you would.
I want to switch to EP Holistics so i got a bag of Duck and Oatmeal.  He wont touch it.  I put out NB original, TO Venison
and the EP.  He ate the TWO and NB but wouldnt consider the EP.  He better consider it soon, cuz we are not throwing it out.
I'll mix it with canned and i know he will eat it.
Yesterday he had his normal Chicken Soup for puppies mixed with canned.  He also had Old Roy [:'(]  We are dog sitting and that's what they feed their dog and my pup got into it.  I'll be more careful today.

Yesterday was agility, so we had a strange schedule. I'll post for Weds.

June - 2-1/4 cups total of California Natural L & R, and canned Wellness Venison & supps.

Bree - 1-1/2 cups Chicken Soup, and canned Wellness Venison & supps.

Nick - 2 + cups Chicken Soup, and canned Wellness Venison.

Zippy - 1/2 cup Eagle Pack Duck mixed with EP Fish, and canned Wellness Venison & supps.

Ginger - b - 3 oz beef heart, plus supps. dinner - chicken thigh (about 10 oz - she's fasted at RMB time on Thurs night), veggie mush, .5 oz beef kidney, & supps.

I'll be glad when the CS is finished. I won't be using it again - not enough bang for my buck. I'm having to feed a good bit, and they're pooping most of it out - alternately mushily, I might add.

Funny, I just updated my chart.  So many critters, I keep a chart updated in case I'm unale to be there for a meal or so and someone else has to do it.

Ben: AM 2 cups EVO RM, 1/4 can green tripe, meds, sups;  PM half can fish (jack mack last night), 1/4 can tripe, meds, sups, then when he's done eating that he gets his rmb (last night it was two beef ribs and a pork neck chunk)

Doug: AM 1/4 can green tripe, 1 cup Canidae Platinum, meds, sups.  PM 1/4 can green tripe and meds

Cord:  AM 1 1/2 cup EVO RM, dollop of green tripe, sups.  PM rmb (pork neck chunks, about 1 pound)

    Rocky:  Same as Cord

Maggie:  AM 1/2 cup EVO RM, dollop green tripe, sups.  PM 1/2 pound rmb (one beef rib last night)

Zhi: 1/4 cup EVO RM, dollop green tripe, Derm Cap.  PM 4 oz rmb (many times I just give rmb for the day since it's hard to divide the huge stuff I get for the BCs - sometimes she gets a whole tiny bird of some sort - I have a friend who raises chickens and gives me cull chicks and she got one of those last night).

Tully:  2 1/2 cups EVO RM.  PM:  Last night they had recreational rmbs - beef femurs from a deader calf on my neighbor's farm.  They've enjoyed the whole calf over the last couple weeks - though they've shared hooves and some smaller pieces with my guys.  I LOVE my neighbor.

    Lu:  See above.

Curly (guest BC at Hotel Irena):  AM one cup Diamond Natruals lamb and rice, 1/2 cup EVO RM (I got him just as I switched to the EVO and it would have been unpleasant going straight to the EVO from the feed store El Cheapo stuff he was eating).  PM Beef rib

Cats:  EVO  Plus field mice free choice. [;)]

Wanna know what the sheep ate?  [:D]

I'm with you. I *try* to keep a chart for Chuck. Unfortunately, my white board is too small with the addition of Nick. Gonna hafta get a new board! Confusing, too, for him when different dogs eat different things!

Everyday Smokey devours Natural Balance Venison and Rice Kibble with her morning portion combined with about 2 tablespoons of Natural Balance canned.  I vary the canned flavors so that the she doesn't get bored, but she eats the afternoon plain Kibble just as fast as her morning portion.

So far today Ella has had about 1/2 lb. ground turkey and 3 spoonfuls of plain yogurt. I added a 1/4 tsp. of eggshells to her ground turkey.
She'll eat turkey, but it's new to her so I think she's unsure about if she REALLY likes it or not.

I just want to say, brookcove, your dogs eat a LOT. And I know it's because they're working dogs so they need that extra food, but that HAS to get expensive.

Dogslyfe, I looked at my grocery store for beef heart and I couldn't find any. How does your dog like it? Where can I get it? Is there somewhere online I can order it from?
Oh, and tripe. You guys buy cans of tripe?? Where can I buy cans of tripe?

rofl And they burn it all. Her dogs definately aren't fat by any shape of the imagination.

When my June gets more work (on sheep) she does too. She typically eats anywhere from two to three times what my other dogs eat - just on a regular day. (My menu has been pretty bland this week compared to normal) I suspect Nick will also - eventually. If I fed June the same food as Bree's getting right now she'd probably have to eat about 4 cups a day just to NOT lose weight (and Bree only gets 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 cups daily just to NOT gain!!). June only outweighs Bree by 4-5 lbs.

I always get it at my grocery store. Ask the butcher there - it usually goes fast, and he/she may be willing to hold some for you. Some folks get it frozen in a case, so that may be an option also. I get it for about $0.99 a lb, and it is treated as muscle meat for raw feeding purposes. Ginger loves it just fine. She's my easiest keeper, and at 25 lbs she gets approx 3 oz muscle meat, 5 oz RMB, and 1/2 oz organ meat daily. If June were totally on raw she'd probably eat anywhere from 1-2 lbs daily. hehe

Solid Gold makes a green tripe in a can (it has green tripe and potatoes I think). I use it sometimes, and I also get fresh raw green tripe when I can. I think Tripett also makes a can of JUST green tripe - they have a website. Hard to find a supplier though, its far easier to find the solid gold. Ginger gets green tripe 2-3 times a week, and an egg 2-3 times a week. Fish once or twice. The other dogs get green tripe once or twice a week as well - the solid gold.

It DOES get expensive.  I should definitely always preface my feeding regime with, "Don't try this at home, kids."  I don't even add it up, though I have a good idea.  I get a lot of cheap meat and I've learned where it pays to cut corners (meat, whole foods) and where it doesn't (kibble of any kind).

My only fat dog is Tully - and he got that way on cheapo kibble (see above on value for money).  He's rapidly trading fat for muscle on the EVO.  Most of the rest of my dogs are very trim - Maggie is sort of smooth, no ribs easily felt, and Zhi is an eating machine - she could eat a lot more than what I give her and not get fat.  I understand Cresteds have sighthound blood in them and I believe it.

You see Ben in my sig and avatar - here's Cord - bringing in the sheep as a tropical storm approaches:

    your dogs are AMAZING!!!!
    What GORGEOUS coats and gleam!
They absolutely gleam! And I don't mean just coat-wise, I'm talking like, their eyes and faces.
    Wow.
Right now I feed Ella a 60 lb. dog diet. She weighed 57 lbs last week when I took her to the vet, but the vet says 60 lbs. is about where I want her. So, I feed her 1.2 lbs of food a day (some days more, some days less) which translates to 1lb. 3 ounces of food a day. I weigh what I can of her food, other things I have an eye for. Right now for organ meats I have her on chicken livers.
I found some packaged tripe at the grocery store. I read that even though it's called "green tripe" it's actually white. Is this the case? I'm going to try to get Ella to eat some probably sometime this weekend. I'm a little skeeved about touching the stuff, but I know I have to get over that.
Do you know if people actually feed the brains of any animals? If so, what does it contain that is good for them?

So far today, Max hasn't had much.  I put the normal 1-1/2 c. kibble in his bowl and as usual, he's just taken a couple of bites and wandered off with it. He's been finishing it earlier in the day and getting (and finishing) the 2nd. half cup - I'm not sure if it's because the weather is a lot cooler now or if he just likes the EP chicken & rice better than the lamb & rice. In any case, 2 c. a day doesn't sound like too much for a 60+ lbs. dog.

Mine haven't eaten yet today... but yesterday,

Dooley Witt and Annie all had rabbit with their "glop"(veggies, fruits, mackeral and a bit of salmon oil and kelp) in the morning and last night they all got a huge turkey neck for dinner. Witt lucked out and got a pizza crust or two at lunch because he was at work with me.

Darby had the rabbit and glop in the AM but at PM he got NV venison raw. He is a 9 pound 14 year old Poodle who can't handle a whole tukey neck.

Well...this morning, I made Cherokee a bowl of ground beef (with ground eggshells), veggies, salmon oil, and a few supplements (nutritional yeast, kelp, vitamin C, vitamin E..I think that's it), but she didn't eat it. She eats pretty much that same thing often, so I think maybe the veggies were a little "off" or something. I forgot to pick it up, and she just went over and started licking at it, but raw meat sitting out for hours = no, so I gave her some Timberwolf cat food (that my cats won't touch [&:]). If I go to the store this afternoon, she'll have a short rib or two for dinner, if not, I'll try ground beef and different veggies.
