I agree with glenmar...vets don't get alot of training in terms of animal nutrition in vet school, and what's even more depressing is that these really junky dog food company, like IAMS, pays vets to advertise/suggest them to their clients.
If you have trouble finding cheaper high quality dog foods, as some really can get expensive, look into Wellness or Merrick..they are also good foods that aren't as expensive as say, Timberwolf Organics (I feed this food, and even though I pay more, my dog loves it!)
Either way, your dog will benefit from a high quality diet.
