Where do you buy your dog's food?

I buy Canidae ALS from a pet store - it was 35.99/40 lbs and just went up to 37.99/40 lbs - but that seems expensive compared to what some others have said.  But, from Buffalo to Pittsburgh it's about that price :)

If you use a food that is at both Petco and Petsmart, I have found in our state that Petsmart runs about 2.00 less a bag even more for the larger sizes.  Where I live Petco is a rip off price wise on so many brands.  But Petco has many foods not available at Petsmart.

But Petco has the buy 10 get 1 free program, so depending on what you buy, it might wind up cheaper in the end.

And if you're buying Natural Balance, you can get their frequent buyer card and get a free bag from them and from Petco.

I buy the dog food from PetsMart.  I pay $31.99 plus taxs for my doberman's food (nutro - natural choice high protein forumla) and I pay $35.99 plus taxs for my Corso's food (nutro - natural choice large breed puppy controled growth formula).  I also feed raw.  I get pork necks (5 lb pkg) from WalMart.  I pay $0.98 per lb.  I get chicken backs by the case (40 lbs) and I pay $0.88 per lb from a store that carries nothing but raw food for dogs and cats, it's called Bones 2 Go.

Where I live Petco charges a lot more for their foods than PetsMart does.  Also where I live PetsMart carries a lot more variety of foods than Petco.

I buy Natural  Balance Venison and Brown Rice at Petco.  It is an allergy food so it is more expensive than the Natural Balance Ultra Premium.  I pay $10.99 for a 5 pound bag...I could save a couple of dollars if I bought the 17 pound bag, but my dog doesn't eat that much and I would rather have it fresher by getting the smaller bags.

I buy Eagle Pack Holistics at Pet Supplies Plus or something like that for 10.99/6lb bag.. That bag would last over a month for our chi so it's worth it.....

California Natural Lamb and Rice Puppy Food - 28.99 + tax for 20 pounds. But shes worth it.

I have two web sites that rate dog food but I don`t know if I can do it here. I would like to know what poeple think of the rating that they give dog food if I could.

Petsmart, "Authority Harvest Baked Chicken", totally organic, no spray on fat, highly digestible......even though I am a vegetarian when I open the bag it has a pleasant smell..................and my 4 dogs love it(also feed it to my cats, "Authority" for cats))[;)]

Right now I get Joey's dog food and the cat's hard food from Hungry Hounds, a boutique in St. John Indiana.  I pay $10.00, closely, per bag of Nature's Logic 6lb.  I get his raw and his canned food there too.

Unfortunatly my fussy male cat with UTI issues will only eat Wellness canned.  Lucky for me, I am a territory manager for a pet product distributor and alot of my clients carry Wellness.  I just have to remember to pick it up before I leave.

Treats, bird food, and other supplies I get from Pet Supplies Plus.

I get my girls' food from a feed store here in the city.

Healthwise Cat 'N Kitten is $16.97 for a 16.5 pound bag.  I had been buying the four pound bags for $5.49 plus tax, but it's cheaper in the long run to buy a big bag -- even for a five pound kitten like Trixie.

Roxie is back on California Natural (she began scratching on the Healthwise, but has stopped doing it so much since going back to CA Natural), but I have her on the lamb meal and rice formula this time.  She likes it more than the chicken formula.  Anyway, its price is $22.00 for a 20 pound bag.  I should have spent the $37.00 for a 35 pound bag, but I wasn't thinking too far ahead.

I get mine from Feeders Supply, it's a locally owned pet food chain down here in Louisville. They have a thing where you buy 12 bags of Nutro you get one free, so I usually shop there.
    Shadows food- 33lbs for 25.99
    Bucks food- 40lbs for 29.99

So far, I've had Buck about 1 month and he still has about 2/3 of a bag of food left, so I would say a bag will last him about three months. He gets 3 cups of food a day. Shadow has about the same but she gets 2 cups of food a day, she is on a diet. Once she hits ideal weight we will up the intake.

I order from PetFood Direct since none of the stores around here sell TWO.  I usually wait until I can get at least a 20% discount to order (which is at least once per month), so I spend anywhere from the upper $40's to low $50's for the food depending upon which 33 lbs. formula I am ordering.  This includes tax and shipping, and I almost always get my food within a week.
