    Would you believe

I'd never seen Ol' Roy and I sort of thought it was a joke.  You know, like someone talking about "Acme" dog food or something.

I saw some in W*lmart yesterday and felt like a total goober.

Aren't you proud to know some hillbilly knowledge. That stuff, as I'm sure you know, is filled with "fillers," or stuff that doesn't do anything for the dog - just goes in one way and right out the other. Fillers just add wieght to the bag to make it appear less expensive, but in actuality the dog has to eat alot more of it to keep healthy.

I'm sure you already knew this though. I just saw that you were new. Welcome, by the way.

Yep, it is ture, and in my small Ol' Roy is what most dog owners feed their dogs, they haven't a clue about nutrtion, it's just the cheapest thing you could evere buy out here.

Isn't that sad[&o]. Same here. And it's really hard to get them to understand that it really isn't as economical as they think it is. Cheap food=feed more and more vet bills. "But it's only $8 for a 50lb bag."

I live in a wealthy community, mind you I'm not wealthy, but I drove past a wealthy area with huge houses, apparently on garbage day, and saw 3 empty bags of Ol' Roy at 3 different houses on the curb.

I think Old Roy is as bad as the Kroger FMV food that Shadow's old owner had her on before I adopted her. What a horrible food for any animal!

Except for maybe a rabbit. Just kidding, I wouldn't recommend feeding a rabbit anything with BHT, BHA, or ethoxiquin.

I have many a horror stories about Ol' Roy and customers I used to talk to. But I won't get into that.

What is even more sad is that Ol' Roy is the #1 selling dog food in the USA.

Did you know that even Big Lots has their own brand of pet food?  Pretty scary...

Yeah, I'd read about it being the #1 selling dog food.  It's easy to see why, even if you don't agree with the food.  Such a shame, really.

They showed that hillbilly cousin of clark griswald(whats his name??) putting a huge bag of ol roy in his shopping cart, for his rottie, in the christmas vacation movie.I would have thought that'de be enough to put anyone off of feeding that crap [&o] [8D]

You might want to be careful about talking about hilbilly's like that. Many of us can be quite defensive. We're liable to bring all our cousins, brothers, and sisters (which may be the same in some cases), along with our shotguns and start a rucious. Not to mention, some of us do have an education.
    • Gold Top Dog
Yeah, and us hillbillies don't mind leaving DNA evidence 'cause it's all the same. We still go to family reunions to pick up dates. When we get a divorce, we and our ex-spouses can remain brother and sister. And we all know how to use a banjo.

    • Gold Top Dog
    Hey!
    I LOVE THE BANJO.
    THAT'S NOT FUNNY.
    [;)]

But, really, I DO love the banjo.
    • Gold Top Dog
My husband (Nawth Ca'lahnah native) spends his free time pickin' and grinnin' with his best friend. Patrick does not play the banjo, however. His friend does. His family tree branches pretty freely though he does have one set of cousins who married and there's an awful lot of twins in his family. [:o]

Administering Ol' Roy to their dogs isn't an exclusive failing of Hillbillies, from what I've seen. Ol' Roy is the #1 dog food sold in the US by a twenty percent margin! http://www.stevedenning.com/SIN-69-store-brand-becomes-vialbe-narrative.html

I understand what you mean by hillbilly mentality, however. I call it the average American just being average. Don't think too hard or make a special effort and by no means expend either time or money for principle's sake alone!

Ya know, McDonald's is really cheap too...maybe we should all just get ourselves on a flat out Micky-D diet!  Mmm deeeelicious!

Again, I have to mention that some people DO eat only, or really close to only, fast food. [&:]
