My TWO Finally Arrived!!

i feed him wellness puppy mix... about to start mixing in natural balance venison + brown rice.

Could very well be the Wellness...they do have a new formula. I have heard that dogs do either really well or really poorly on Wellness, there is not much for a middle ground with that one. How man times do you feed your puppy?
Also, don't puppies usually poop more??
Hey Twin & Chewbecca. . .you both raised from puppies right?  Do they poop 3 times a day??

Yes, I do think puppies poop more. I know that up until 6 months my boy was eating 3 times a day, and then naturally went poop about 3 times a day or 2 (morning/afternoon/somtimes before bed)...not more that that though. Now, he is eating 2 times a day and goes once when he gets up and once in the afternoon. That's it! [:)]

I actually bought some salmon at the store a bit ago!! IT is only bumble bee in the pouch. It was on sale for only a little over $2.00 so I thought this would be a good way to try it!   They get some tonight, then tomorrow we will see how the poops are!!!![:D]   I would like to rotate in some wild salmon 2-3 meals a week if they will tolerate it. Then rotate crockpotting and hopefully the TWO Canned.   [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]    I am jealous you got to ride today. Incredible day to go and I bet Max had fun (obviously so by the excited poop!)  I can#%92t wait for some rain but we don#%92t get much here. Never gone out in the rain with these two so not sure how they will do. Have to get them rain coats though before winter![;)]   I would order on Monday, in fact you could order tomorrow too. Both times I have ordered over the weekend and they process it on Monday and ship it on Tuesday. So 16 pounds lasts you about a month?? 33 pounds only lasts me 2 weeks!   I wish I could try the lamb, but it has rice. Oh well, as long as I can find 2 formulas to rotate through then I will be happy!   Oh my gosh. . .don#%92t even get me started on greyhounds. They are the most amazing dogs! I love all dogs and there are a handful of breeds I would really like to own, but I think greyhounds have ruined other breeds for me. [:)]
I have to take my pups on a walk right now and then make dinner (and maybe watch Memiors of a Geisha…it is on TV tonight) but I promise I will make you a list Twin of my top 10 favorite things about greys and also answer your questions about being “off lead”.  A greyhound off lead running away is a very scary thing! [:o] Actually today at the greyhound walk one got off lead. They caught her but the poor owner was terrified and he is new to the walking club and I think he felt like he was a bad owner or something. I felt so bad for him.[&:] Anyway, more later!

Hey BTW- there is someone who needs advice on a popped stitch, here is the thread. . . can you see if you have any advice or maybe try bumping it to see if others will see it and have something to offer ??  I feel bad for the owner.[&:]

Anyway, if you're interested in some good italian beef, I'll PM you the recipe. It's for human consumption though, not for the doggies! There's too many spices and too much onion in it for them.

yum, yum. . .yes please I would LOVE the recipe! Once fall hits I like to start using my crockpot for us humans too [;)]

So I gotta ask, how did the roast turn out with the in-laws??

It turned out well, actually. I was just so upset that it didn't work the way I knew how to do it.

    The recipe is quite simple:

    5 lb. roast (or smaller)
    2 jars of cherry peppers
one onion (I don't usually do anything but cut off the ends of the onion)
3-4 cloves of garlic (it's really up to you how much garlic you add)
    italian seasoning

Directions: Put roast in your crock pot. Open up and pour in your two jars of cherry peppers. Add onion, garlic cloves (pressed or minced). Fill the rest of the way until right above the roast with water. Sprinkle Italian seasoning completely over the top of the water (until you can't see the roast).
Cook on low for 8 or more hours. two hours before you are ready to serve and eat, take a slotted spoon and pull out all of the cherry peppers and de-stem them. Put them back in the crockpot. Also, when you're ready to eat, take out the roast and shred it up.
Serve and eat with au juis or not. DELICIOUS. YUM.

    THE END.

Sounds great.. . Maybe I will try it next week (i just did this weeks shopping earlier today [;)]).

One question though. . .the cherry peppers. . .are they hot??  I have never used them.   Also what is a good side dish with this??

Yummy...makes me hungry! Thanks for sharing with us[:D]

I know this is kind f off topic, but I was wondering if someone can help me on this.
I ordered the Timberwolf Organics, Southern Chicken for my puppy, she is very energetic(she's a pitbull) and she is about 4 months old. But now I am confused. Do you guys think that the protein and fat is too much for her?

    MIN PROTEIN: 25%
    MIN FAT: 15%
    MAX FIBER: 3%
    MAX MOISTURE: 9%
    ASH: 6.5%
    Kcal/kg: 3,680
    OMEGA-6 FATTY ACIDS: 4.0%
    OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS: 1.0%
    CALCIUM: 1.3%
    PHOSPHOROUS: 1.1
    VITAMIN A: 22,000 IU/KG
    VITAMIN D: 1,200 IU/KG
    VITAMIN E: 350 IU/KG
    COPPER: 16mg/KG

I just don't want her to have any growing problem.

Nooo, that's fine. I'm guessing you read that the grain-free kibbles in general aren't good for large breed puppies? It's not because of the protein level, it's because of the amount of calcium that's usually in them, but TWO has normal amounts of calcium (the protein and fat are normal for regular foods, and definitely on the low-side as far as grain-free foods go!). Just feed that pup a good food (TWO is a great choice), and keep her fairly thin, and she won't have growing problems.

Edit: Oh, that food isn't even grain-free. Those protein and fat levels are perfectly fine and normal.

Thank You very mych for the info. I always cook my dachshunds, but now with a large dog I guess it is just cheaper to buy her a kibble and add some other things to her diet. I'll keep that in mind next time when chossing a different brand.

OK, so here's the scoop on my TWO so far. I e-mailed Carol again tonight just to let her know that I would be needing to order up another bag of TWO and I still had not heard from the other people. She wrote me back right away and told me that she was going to take care of this and forward it again to those people and also an additional person. She said I should have my replacement bags sent out on Monday...so to wait on ordering until I find out if those bags get shipped Monday. She is really great and has helped me a lot with this problem and I am so thankful for that! [:)] So, she said I might even hear from someone tomorrow about this. I really hope I get my bags sent out, that way I do not have to place an order and then have like 3 bags of Elk coming! I'll keep you updated. By the way, did I thank you for offering to send me some emergency Elk? That was so thoughtful of you and I just wanted to make sure I said "Thank You!" [:)]

How old are JJ and Prudence?
I actually bought some salmon at the store a bit ago!!

I am so glad you picked up some salmon. My pup did exceptionally well on it and I am hoping all goes well with your pups. It is such a great natural source of fish oils. Not to mention he really likes fish now all of a sudden. Yay!

Absolutely, I will go do that right now! [:)]

Welcome to i-dog and I am glad that Chelsea was able to answer your questions! [:D]  How does your pup like the Southwest Chicken TWO??

Oh. . .that is fantastic news!! I like knowing that we have a Carol out there to help us out if we have questions or concerns. [:D]

Seriously. . .the offer always stands if you need the elk. . . at the tiny rate I am giving it to them it will take me 6 months to use it all and if you can use it then I am very happy to send it to you. . .I am just not willing to throw it away![:D]

How do you put peices of the other persons post into sections of yours?? I can't figure it out![:@]

JJ will be 7 in february (we got him about 5 months ago now and Prudence will be 3 next month and we have had her for only 2 months. She has WAY more energy than he does, but they do really well together [:D]

The salmon went over soooo well and poops were perfect this morning!  The cats went crazy (and normally Barnaby doesn't eat salmon) so the cats got some too.  I am definately going to give 1 can a week in my rotation  [:D].   Glad you have been feeding it becasue otherwise I wouldn't have thought of canned fish again.
tahsnk for checking on that guy with his doggie. . .I was very happy to see dvet coem on and give actual vet advice.
    I love this forum! [:D]

btw- just wondering but do you think other forum members think we are nuts?  I mean every day we give poop reports and and we discuss every detail of feeding and when we get/ order our TWO.   With the exception of Chewbecca and Chelsea who pop on with stuff. . .so you think people think "these ladies are cooky?"    Not that I care if people think i am nutty [:D]. . . .most of us on this dog forum can be percieved by others as nuts! I don't know if there's an easier way to do it, but.. I just copy and paste the sections I want to quote, and type the [ quote ] text [ / quote ] around them, without the spaces.

Morning!...or should I say Afternoon! I always get up soooo late! [:D]
How do you put peices of the other persons post into sections of yours?? I can't figure it out![:@

OK, so what I do is this:
I highlight the part of the other persons text that I want to copy...I right click my mouse and hit "copy." Then I go to my post and click on the little quote button that looks like a little bubble with lines in it, I hit that and it brings the quote brackets up by itself. Then I just "paste" what I have copied in between the quotes. And I just keep doing that for all the different things I want address or answer from the other persons thread! [:)] Let me know if that was too confusing...it is kinda hard to explain via typing.

Wonderful news! That is great because it is awesome for their coat! For some reason that fish digests extremely well...which is good because for some reason the smell always makes me think he is going to get gas! [;)] Luckily, it is very rare for my pup to fart...good for mom! [:D]

    Here's what I think:
    1. Not many people follow this thread because its mainly just us 2 talking.
    2. There are a lot of people reading this thread, either idog members, or outside members who actually really find this information we discuss insightful.
    3. There probably are a LOT of other people going threw this type of thing too, and DO enjoy listening to the poop reports!
    4. People think we are nuts and spend way too much time analyzing poop and TWO.
    5. Others have now learned how to use a crock-pot!

Either way, I absolutely love this thread. [:D] It is so great that we are going threw the same things at the same time with TWO and so forth. Also, I would have never even thought about crock-potting and you wouldn't have brought stinky fish back into your home. I love it! [sm=biggrin.gif]

    5. Others have now learned how to use a crock-pot!

I bought a crock-pot a few months ago, and have used it for us people a few times, but I have to admit, after reading about you guys crock-potting for your dogs, I threw some chicken in for these two, and they've been quite happy with it. My cat even loves it! [:D

But I'll tell ya, next time I'm using boneless meat, or at least only parts with big bones that are easy to fish out. I used a package of pre-cut up whole chicken, and spent an hour picking out little teeny back and rib bones. [&o]
