My TWO Finally Arrived!!

She knew she hurt me, too. She stayed right next to me after I got up, got my bike, and we started walking. Then when we got home she gave me a TON of kisses which is unusual for her.

Awhh. . .she was trying to make up to you. . .what a sweet little girl [:)]

I don#%92t know how you do the bike riding thing with her. I would not have enough coordination to pull that off!  I hope you didn#%92t get hurt!
    [:o]

About a month ago I was coming home from the greyhound rescue about 9:00 at night and I had the dogs with me in the back of my car. This guy comes flying down the middle of the empty street behind me on a bike with a pit on a leash. It was obvious by how he was riding the bike and by his posture he though he was really cool and wanted to show off his bad *** dog, but when he came up on the curb next to my car his dog saw my dogs and the pit leapt backwards toward my car,  pulling him off the bike and forcing the bike into a post. I was so shocked and immediately was concerned the guy hurt himself and then the next thing I knew his dog was jumping into my passenger side window that was rolled almost all the way down.[:o]    Fortunately he couldn#%92t get into the window and thank god that he didn#%92t have enough leash try for my back window where JJ#%92s face was sticking out smelling the air. I am also so glad that DH had decided not to go to the rescue that night or the pit would probably have attacked him. It was obvious that the guy had no control over his dog and that the dog was way aggressive with people and dogs. This wasn#%92t just a “hi how are you” approach, the dog was in full attack mode when he tried to jump in my window. My worst nightmare is facing that same guy and dog when we are just out walking!   The guy fortunately didn#%92t get too badly hurt which is good, but especially after seeing that dog pull him like that I can#%92t imagine being able to take a dog on a bike.

I am glad you and Ella fitzgerald made up.  [;)]

    Shelly,

I am so happy that you received your TWO order!! Yes, yes, yes! Did you just order one 33lb bag of Bison, and then you are picking up another bag at the local store?

I don't think I will be ordering another bag until I am at least half-way through this bag. It will probably take my boy almost 1 month. I was thinking of getting another bag of Elk, and then switching? I am thinking I might just rotate between the Elk, Bison, and Ocean Blue...I have heard such mixed reviews on the Lamb/Apples and Chicken/Herbs...but I might give them a whirl in the future. I am debating on what order to go in for the rotation. What do you think? If you could rotate between all the formula's, how would you do it?

Are you only going to rotate between the Dakota Bison and Ocean Blue?

So, how are your pups poops doing now that they are back on the Bison? I miss the poop talk...he he he...[:D] My boy is doing awesome with his poops and he is really enjoying it mixed with his EVO 95%.
    • Gold Top Dog
SO glad you are back Twin!   I missed our poop talks too [&o]

My guys are doing very well. . . the poop is consistently good. Sometimes they have “excited pooh” so it is a little puddingy. . .but overall very pleased![:D] They are still loving it and I haven#%92t put in my order for the next 2 bags but will probably do so tomorrow. I figure out that we should only get about 15 days out of each 33# bag, so I really am gonna have to be on top of this ordering thing if I am not going to use the store. I am very pleased though that I did find another store in town. . . I had to call about 20+ stores though! [:@]      One store said the owner was actually considering adding the company to the list of folks they work with so there might be 3 stores in my area soon!    I think I will get the 2 bags of bison if they are still offering the coupon deal. Also, I will probably order a 4# bag of the ocean blue just to try. I do really want to find 2 good formulas to rotate between that they do well on and I like the idea of 1 being more “meat based” and the other more “fish based”   Now to answer your question about what I would use (assuming JJ didn#%92t have allergies and I didn#%92t mind a higher protein level for him because of his age).    I would probably try the Wild and Natural, but I really would like to try the lamb and apples. JJ did well on lamb at the rescue and this is a protein source I don#%92t cook for them.  If I find out in a few months that he doesn#%92t appear to be having problems with rice, I might try this one. I probably wouldn't do the chicken one because I crockpot chicken to add to their food anyway! [:D]
So if I could rotate between all the formulas (except the elk due to bad poops ), I would do bison, ocean blue, lamb and apples and MAYBE wild and Natural.   I would probably rotate after every 2 bags (since it only takes me 2 weeks to go through a whole one) and then would just mix in a little new with the old to transition them a little easier.   Did you see the info that someone gave me on the “TWO success story thread”? Jessie told me how she transitions them between formula#%92s (oh- and her pups also had loose stool on the elk, but none of the other formula#%92s)

    • Gold Top Dog
Don't you just love that "excited poop!" He he he...always throws things off, but it sure is funny! [:D]

I did hear about Jessie's loose stools on the Elk...it's good when people are having the same reactions to a certain formula, that way you don't feel like you are the only one. My pup is doing wonderful on the Elk...but who knows maybe he won't do so well on the Bison, that sure would be funny! [:)] I hope not, but it is interesting the way different dogs do on foods. I guess it is better that both your pups did ;poorly on the Elk, instead of just one, because then you know that formula is out for sure. Not as if one did great and the other did bad, that would be more of a disappointment I think. [&:]

That is so wonderful you have local stores to buy TWO from. It is nice I at least have that one in Reno in case of emergencies. I really enjoy ordering off the site because it gets shipped to my door. But, having those 2 holes in the bags is really disappointing...I think I will e-mail Carol about it...since I still have not heard back from the company. You have to let me know if you get any HOLES! [;)]

So glad to hear your pups are doing so well...it is such a relief to know that a food is really working for them. Have you been mixing in any Evanger's again since you are back to the Bison, or are you laying off that?
    • Gold Top Dog
    Hey there![:D]

I have NOT been giving the evangers yet. I was actually trying to give them just a  little broth because my plan was to bring up little prepared "souffle cups" of their glucosamine mixed with a little broth to put in their food while being boarded. Turns out they almost won't eat it if the broth is cold, sooooo I am changing to yogurt with the glucosamine instead!

I do agree that I am happy they BOTH didn't tolerate the elk. I have about 14 pounds left of it so after we are back I figured I would just start mixing in 1/4 a cup or less into the bison just so I don't have to waste it. I think that little will be OK for them.

Definately e-mail Carol!   She has been out of town and responded to the "TWO- a success story" link.  I think it is important for them to know.   I ordered my 2  33# bags today but couldn't order the 4 #  of ocean blue to trial because they were out of stock.  I will just get that locally (funny- the one store that is SOOO expensive by me actually carry the 4 # bags for $1.00 less than the TWO website).

Have you tried the mackeral or salmon yet??  Gotta go walk the pups and check the poop! [:D]

    • Gold Top Dog
    DISGUSTING! Ewwwww [:'(]....

I just opened the can of Jack Mackerel tonight at it was a really sickening experience for me. Starting to realize why I do not do RAW/BARF. Anyway...I just posted about it in my thread "Which Brand Of Fish?" in case you are interested! [:)]

OK, so I do not know if I will get the TWO Ocean Blue now...my pup HATES fish. He has turned his nose up to every fish based kibble I have given him samples of...would not even try a piece of Filet of Sole (Petrole Sole) when my mom made it for me one day...and would not even taste the Jack Mackerel. So, I do not know if the Ocean Blue would be a good thing. I know that he does not really like any kibble plain...but he really might not like the Ocean Blue. Many of the TWO formula's have Salmon Meal, but it is not the first ingredient. Also, he might like it if I mix it with the 95% EVO, but I don't know?

He sure is a funny little pup...dogs are supposed to like fish...he sure is an odd ball! [&:]

    CRACKING ME UP!!
I can't believe your baby doesn't like the mackeral. Ocean blue probably would not be the best bet then. Try the salmon and see what happens. Maybe salmon goes over well, but not other fish.  If the salmon is a "no go", then maybe you don't want to try the salmon oil. . . he may not eat his kibble.

I will miss our "poop updates" while I am gone, but will post after I am back so I can find out how the salmon went over and how your babies pooh is!   [:D]

Ella LOVES mackeral, but disliked Ocean Blue. She loved it at first, but then wouldn't eat it.

Speaking of Timberwolf, Ella is having a kibble day to give her a break from raw.
I ordered a scale to weigh her food, and I'll feel better about how much she's eating when I can finally weigh her food. I know with raw they're not supposed to poop as much, but I know that too much bone can constipate them. I want to make sure I'm not feeding her too many RMBs (too much by weight, I mean) and that she's not getting constipated due to that. She hasn't pooped since yesterday morning. She ate ground burger and a boneless skinless chicken breast yesterday. No RMBs for her yesterday either.
    • Gold Top Dog
She hasn't pooped since yesterday morning

I don't know what is normal for Miss Fitzgerald () but with my pups that would absolutely be constipation!

I think the scale is a great idea!  And then rotating in some TWO W& N is too!
Let us know how the raw thing continues to go for her and of course, please update us on if she pooped. . .this is the "poop report thead" you know!
    • Gold Top Dog
Well, she went twice yesterday morning.
PLUS, it is common for raw fed dogs to poop only once a day and sometimes to skip a day.
She's not acting like she's in pain.
But, she'll be pooping soon, she ate kibble today.

I didn't know that.  I wonder why that is??

Because they use more/are able to absorb more of the raw food. You don't have all the extra additives and stuff in raw food that you have in kibble or canned dog food.

TWIN- here is another poop report. . .just for you![:D]

Took the pups out for a short stroll and they both pooped. Thsi is probably the last poop I will see of theirs in a week and  I am really noticing that the HUGE VOLUME we had when we started has greatly reduced.  [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif] They are well formed (and stay that way) and the odor really is a lot lower.
I think the longer they are on the food, the better their poop becomes. I honestly think it just took my guys a little longer to get adjusted and it didn't help that I had to add the elk and they didn't tolerate it.[:'(]

By the time we get back from vacation and pick them up from boarding, they will have consumed well over 50 pounds of it so I think they will be totally adjusted to it. [;)]
Still planning to get some ocean blue to try out and hopefully they will tolerate that better than the elk.

    JJSMOM06-

Thank you for the special poop report just for me! [:D] I am SOOOOOOO happy to hear that your little Grey's are doing wonderfully! Yes!! [:)] I do agree, by the time you get back they should be well adjusted to the TWO.

When are you leaving and coming back? I will be anxiously awaiting your return. I hope your pups do well at the boarding place. And most importantly I hope you have a WONDERFUL time! [8D]

I am thinking of trying the Salmon tonight...maybe...yucky...that mackerel made me gag!![:'(] If he doesn't like it...I might not get the salmon oil, or the Ocean Blue. I am so happy you got your TWO shipment and you can feed strictly the Bison while you are away, that way they will have a food they are ajdusted to.

Oh yeah, I wanted to ask you about Evangers. I was thinking about trying their 100% meat line. What do you think? Which ones have been your pups favorite flavors?

Once again, HAVE FUN...you will be missed! [;)]

    Hey Twin I  am back!![:D]

    Thanks for the nice message!
NYC was AMAZING!! I can't wait to go back.  I would LOVE to live their and walk my dogs in central park every day.[;)]  Tons of dogs there and all of them were SOOOO well behaved! [8D]

I have only tried a couple of evangers and my favorite (or rather "their" favorite) was the "hunk o beef"  They also liked the canned chicken pretty well too. I have a few others in the pantry I haven't tried with them yet. If you can find it I think it is worth trying.  How is the TWO going and did your baby like the salmon???

You will NOT believe it but I put in my TWO order on Monday before we left on Tuesday, they shipped it the next day and it got here 2 days later! Only 4 days total. [:D]  My stepdaughter said she looked over the bags and didn't see any holes. I haven't looked at them though. Have you ordered again? Did you contact Carol about the holes??

I don't have a poop report to give you yet because we got in late last night and are going in a few hours to pick up the dogs from boarding at the rescue. I missed them soooo much[:D]
I called a couple of times during the trip to check on them and according to the rescue their poop was "dark and hard".  Alberto is Italian and doesn't speak the best English but he said that they had great poop, he couldn't believe their coats especially how shiney JJ was, he said whatever I am feeding them is good food and I should keep feeding it, they ate every meal and loved the yogurt and glucosamine mix I brought up there.  He also said he couldn't believe how different they were and how "calm" Prudence was since they have lived with me.[:D
Both of them were "unadoptables" with tons of issues and Alberto works there 5 days a week with these dogs so he really gets to know them. He has only seen them 1-2 times since I adopted them so this made me feel very happy that he noticed a big difference in the dogs after only a few months. He said they seem "very happy and have peace"[:D]

I will give you the full poop report after we get them.
Any poop news on your end? Did the fish effect the poop?  (assuming he even ate it!)[;)]
