    Not so interested in eating?

Cooper has recently started to not be interested in his food.  A few weeks ago we attributed it to the heatwave and figured the remainder of the bag went bad when he flat out refused to eat while crated with the bowl.  Now he will eat, but will not finish the entire 1 1/2 cups, but will only do so with company.  If you walk away, he will walk away.  This morning I had him sit, gave him the okay and I laid down on the couch, he walked away from the bowl and laid down in front of the couch.  There is nothing wrong with him, he'll eat anything else, he'll play as usual, no bathroom issues, he's just suddenly finicky or something.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong?

Oh, its Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Adult...which is what we've been feeding him since switching over a year ago from their Large Breed Puppy.  Also, he gets 1 1/2 cups in the morning and 1 1/2 cups at night.  No part of our routine has changed either, still the same amount of activity, same schedule, etc.

oh my dogs does that what you need to do is, if he rufues to eat, you take the bowl back into the feeder bin. Then try it the next day. Keep doing this, you will notice that he will be HUNGRY! That he will inhale the food ;) G'luck with ya!

Maybe he's trying to tell you he's sick of the food?? A year is a long time to be eating the same food everyday. Switch up to a better food, and throw some others into the mix so you can rotate.[:)] I give my dogs a different kibble everyday, you dont have to be that extreme, you could swap every week or month if you wanted.

I agree with Edie here, thats a long time to be on the same food. Try picking out a new food with a different protein source. I also rotate the foods I feed, making sure the proteins are different so that my dogs get the different amino acids, fats, and enzymes that they need. (Each protein source offers different ones, if you only feed one protein source your dog will only be getting one set)

He may also be appreciative of something with a new taste =)

I have to agree with what others have said here.  I fed my lab the same food for a couple of years and she flat out refused to eat it anymore.  She was basically eating enough to satisfy her hunger. She sometimes would only eat 1/4 of her serving of canned food. We give her a can of the wet food every night and then some dry kibble during the day.  She eats the kibble as needed but loves the new canned food.  We switched her over to Innova products.  She eats the regular Innova canned food, the EVO rabbit, venison, and beef in canned products and the EVO RM formula for kibble.  We had to try several different kinds of kibble to find something that she actually liked.  As long as she's eating, I'm happy.
