Evo Duck or Vennison?

I think it's a matter of preference. I think the duck is more fatty, but don't quote me on that. I've never tried the 95% meat cans yet, only the regular EVO canned. I can't find them where I live. If it were up to me, I'd go with the venison, because I always try to add more red meat to Penny's diet, since her EVO is white meat based. I REALLY want to get my hands on the 95% rabbit. That would be one to try. Penny's never had rabbit and I think it's a more natural protein source.

I use the beef, Willow really likes it.  It's very "rich" I guess you could say.  And, by that I mean high in fat. 

I feed my lab EVO beef, venison, rabbit, and regular Innova canned food.  I haven't tried the duck yet.  What I can tell you is that the beef is the most popular and can take a couple of weeks to get it.  I orderd some a few days ago and Innova said they are completely out of it.  Shamrock loves, and i mean LOVES, the rabbit.  She eats the entire can in less than a minute.  I like the idea of giving her something that she would most likely eat if she were in the wild.  It's like she is getting to eat something that she was meant to eat.  I believe that the venison will be higher in calories but I can't remember for sure.  I have eaten venison and I know that it's a bit heartier than beef.  So, it might be best for a more active dog.  I have a can of the duck but have not tried it as I want to make sure I can be home all day in case she doesn't take it well.  She has had some issues with poultry in the past so I'm not sure how the duck would effect her.  Then there is the issue of price.  The duck may run up to a dollar more a can.  The duck and rabbit are the most expensive and can be almost $3 per can.  I think that any of the EVO flavors would be good as the product itself is so good.  I think that you should maybe try each flavor and see what Ash likes the best.

She likes everything else - duck, venison, rabbit.  For some reason she didn't like venison.  We haven't tried turkey/chicken.

My puppy loves the beef but when I e-mailed Canidae about some kibble samples they replied that beef is not really good for dogs and that the EVO 95% beef is too rich!  Anybody know anything about this?

O.K. so I bought the Evo canned Duck, Vennison AND the Rabbit. [] I already have the regular Innova canned food so the entire top of my dryer is now stacked with canned foods, as well as the Innova Adult Dry food and the Innova Evo dry food. I tried the rabbit first and she liked it a lot. Then the next day, I tried the duck and she really that one as well. Then, this morning, I gave her the vennison and oh my goodness. She went nuts. I have NEVER seen her eat like that before. I'm glad I put it in her kong or it would've been inhaled in one second. She was at that kong like I've never seen. I'm SO glad I bought these foods. I mix it with her kibble and I haven't figured that out yet. I don't know how much of what to feed her, but at least she likes it.

I just feed the normal amounts of kibble with about a spoonfull of the canned and I mix it in really good so that they kibble is all covered up with the canned. My pup has had perfect stools doing it this way 'cuz its not too much canned. So far the Venison and the Rabbit have been winners! Tomorrow I am going to try the Beef...so we will see how that one goes too! []

My guess is going to be:
A.) 95% whatever is going to be seen as a lot of protein which protein is known to be more difficult to digest.

B.) some dogs do better on a "grainier" diet because it forms their stools better (I don't know why, probably something to do with my "A" point.

c.) Canidae is probably NOT going to talk up another company's food anyway. I could be wrong.

Email Canidae back and ask for specifics as to why they think it's too rich and why they say that beef is bad for dogs. <--because the latter I've never heard before.

the fat content of all of the 95% meat evo is 7% wet weight, so it's not true the duck is fattier.  The 95% beef, rabbit, and duck all have "normal" levels of calcium and are safe to feed to growing puppies; oddly the 95% venison, 95% poultry, and the regular canned EVO all have sky-high calcium levels, similar to the dry EVO, and shouldn't be fed to puppies, and I wonder if it's truly healthy to feed that kind of calcium level to adult dogs. Ash content is very high for all EVO products, who knows what that does to dogs.
