Going overboard???

    Going overboard???

I was watching this show called pet-xpo (or something like that) just flipping throught the channels, and suddenly the woman takes a bite of the dog food she was selling!!! she said it is so healthy that humans can  eat it! they had beef, duck, lamb, chicken.liver, ect ect!

i don't even WANT to know how expensive that stuff is! They even had doggie treats and ice cream that were human safe (if you like beef flavor)!!  don't you think that's going a way over board?

Some one else does that...I'm thinking Newmans Own?  Innova is supposed to be all human grade food and that's not horribly pricey.  And, what goes into my homecooked is all human grade food too...stuff I could easily put on my own table and it certainly isn't expensive.

No, overboard was the show that was on before it.  Where people were spending thousands to build these incredibly awesome dog houses.  One was $14,000 and then she spent another $1000+ to furnish it.

I saw it too, and what she took a  bite of was Evanger's Chicken Wing Dinner, is canned food and can be up to 2.xx a can.   I make Carob Chip cookies for us, since dogs are not supposed to eat chocolate.  And no, not really I don't think is going overboard, I spoil Romeo with "special event treats" (vet visits, obnoxious family staying over without having been invited [;);)

Now, like Willow said overboard is paying 14000.00 for a dog house and that was just the house... forget the dog house... paying 10000.00 for a pig house inside your house. [8|]

    Now that is going overboard!!!

Or, did you see the guy whose house is done one level so his miniature horse can live inside with him??  Some of the homes were unbelieveable.

Yes, Evangers is very expensive.  I pay 25.00 for a case which is only 12 cans.

I saw that one, and the one with the crocodile basement, and the lady with the 1500 sq ft room with a kitchen just for her birds...

I wish I had that kind of money to spend on homeless animals [:o]

Wow, i wish i would have turned on the TV sooner, this show seemed like it was interesting! too bad these insanely riched people wouldn't donate some of these houses to the humane societies (or at least some of their money, geez!!!!)

I didn't catch the show, but saw the commercials.  The bone-shaped doggie wading pool looked like fun  :)

Edited to add:  I'd find a person willing to eat their dog food to be reassuring rather than overboard.  As for the cost of "human quality" food, you can buy a can of off-brand beef stew for about a buck and I wouldn't feed that to a dog.

I don't think that's overboard at all. There shouldn't really be anything in your dog's food that you couldn't eat, with the exception of raw meat which they digest much more quickly than we do. You might not like the taste of liver or tripe but you could eat them.

Willow, that is not a bad price for dog food. Angel eats only Innova canned and it costs me $2.30 per can. I wish I could find it a bit cheaper.

[sm=eek.gif] A 12 can case of EVO costs me $17.

Oh my that is high, I keep Innova canned on hand for Romeo in case I don't thaw food out, or there is a hurricane and lights go out.  I find for $15.00 a case.

Lena, that's really high for Innova.  You are paying much more than we are in the US for it.

I really liked the dog wash.  I thought it would be great for when I have more dogs later.  Then I saw the price.....$21,000!!!  The dog foods they showed didn't seem to expensive to me...well, they were expensive, but I don't feed all canned, so it wouldn't be that bad.  I only use about one can a week.
