    Mixing rice with dry kibble?

I feed Canidae ALS and was thinking of mixing plain white rice with his kibble once a week to give him some variety.  Would that be okay?

Don't know if it is okay, but I do that sometimes![:)]

I understand about wanting to add variety.  Canidae already has its fair helping of rice though- white and brown - and I personally would probably not want to add to that.  How 'bout some canned fish (sardines, jack mackeral, wild alaskan salmon), cottage cheese, egg, or another meat or veggie instead?  Sometimes I'll toss in some canned green tripe, or some other canned good quality food, or some cooked chicken also.  My dogs go nutso over fish night, and scarf their canned dog food down in a hurry!!

Yah i was just thinking that Canidae probably has enough rice.  Maybe I'll try canned food instead.  Thanks for the other ideas. I'll give them a try as well.

Rice, especially white rice, adds nothing much to the diet, not even taste. Rice is used more as a filler in dog foods.  I feed wet Chicken Soup canned food with kibble and I see the rice in my dog's poops.
Better, if you want to give your dog something tasty, would be to add some protein like scrambled egg, crumbled hard boiled egg, or anything that a dog would eat naturally.  I don't see dogs gobbling rice in a rice paddy. :-)   Be aware that adding tasty things to kibble could spoil your dog to where he won't eat his kibbles plain.

to add some filler but without really adding calories to the meal, we have been giving our dogs either cucumber (raw and diced) or green beans (non salted). they love it. we only do this with their evening meal. our puppy is a chow hound (we have the papers LOL!) and he was acting like he was always hungry. since we have been adding veggies in with their meals he doesnt act so hungry now.
