ingrediants seem awesome but maybe you all could look it over for something I missed and/or share your experiences or opinions on it. I'm just so happy to find something that agrees with her stomach and adds variety to her boring old dry food.

Hey my post is in there[:)]... I had the same question because I thought the ingredients looked GREAT, and of course they LOVED it.

Apparently they have some serious quality control issues... although as has been said... other companies have been forgiven so maybe they should be also..?  I still dont think Id get it because it seems to be too often.  I dunno, its a shame cause the food looks so good if they would just keep the metal and crap out of it.[&:]

I have some sample bags of Merrick but am hestitant in feeding it as I've heard issues about quality control.

Shep are you going to continue feeding merrick after reading those links? I would have thought they'de have their QC well and truly under control by now.

As I've been saying, and please don't attack me for this, I work for a distributor that sells Merrick and I haven't had a QC complaint with their dry food for 2 years now.

Now Merrick's canned food has had some recalls recently, but luckily they pulled it off the shelf before anything serious happened.

Further, the QC issues on the dry food happened 3 years ago and while some dogs got tummy upsets, I'm pretty sure no dogs died.  This problem has been fixed.

Go Natural was manufactured by Merrick in Texas and was recalled after an association was made between the food and dogs liver disease and liver failure. That's a bit more serious than an upset tummy.http://www.fda.gov/cvm/CVM_Updates/petcureanrc.htm

My company distributes Merrick. I've never even heard of Go Natural.  I'm not saying your incorrect about Merrick manufacturing the food, but I wouldn't consider it Merrick.

Alot of dog food companies share manufacuring plants.  I think Diamond and Natural Balance share the same plant, like a time share or something.  The company send the ingredients and packaging, but the plant puts it all together and makes it.

I wouldn't consider it Merrick either, but Merrick was named in the lawsuits

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration#%92s Center for Veterinary Medicine, Petcurean Pet Nutrition Inc. issued a voluntary recall of Go! Natural pet food last October. At the same time, the FDA received reports from veterinarians of pets, mainly dogs, being treated for liver disease or liver failure after eating Go! Natural pet food. Symptoms included rashes, vomiting, reduced appetite and jaundice. Go! Natural Pet Food is made by Petcurean Pet Nutrition; a Canadian company also named in the lawsuit along with Texas-based Merrick Petfoods Inc, which manufactured the batch of food in question.

I love Merrick... treats that is.  I feed Romeo raw food, but would have in hand some of their canned food for just in case, but after a seeing a couple of things that were not edible I decided not to use any more.  I still however use their treats, Romeo's favorite is the Porky Jerky Pumper.

I called the company and complained and their response was to send me 4 cases of canned food [&:], I politely sent it back with a letter explaining why.  I never heard back.  Is a shame, I actually went to their plant and everything seems to be in tip top shape.

Hmm.  Interesting[8|].  Who knows?  But I can say that I've included Merrick Wilderness Blend in Joey's rotation for a year now and no problems.

I forgave them for the blue plastic I found (I used it again afterwards)  But, the shipping staple was the end for me.  Also, the poor response from them after also didn't help.   I could of lost her if she had eaten that.

I LOVE Merrick! The only problem I have with it (I've never encountered metal or plastic in the food) is the consistancy of the food. One can will be runny and gravy-like, just the way I like it (and the way it's supposed to be, I think) and another can of the same formula will be thick and gel-like (more like pate). But I keep feeding it because the cats don't seem to mind (they get it mostly, but Jake will occationally get a can)

Jake is soooo cute, oh my God!!
