    Fromm Dog Food

I just found this food for Sofia and while I had started a thread on it in the old forum, it was very young when we switched over so I thought I'd start over.

I'm very impressed with this food. I got her the Salmon al la Veg (stupid name, froo-froo packaging...gah) and she really loves it. She still likes Eagle Pack, too, but I wanted a food that didn't have some sort of "meal" as the first ingredient. This is made of wild salmon, then salmon meal, then...well....

    Ingredients:
Salmon, Salmon Meal, Brown Rice, Sweet Potato, Pearled Barley, Potato, Oatmeal, White Rice, Whole Dried Egg, Salmon Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Millet, Dried Tomato Pomace, Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Cheese, Flaxseed, Oat Hulls, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Apples, Lecithin, Potassium Chloride, Monosodium Phosphate, Calcium Sulfate, Cranberries, Blueberries, Salt, Monocalcium Phosphate, Chicory Root Extract, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Alfalfa Sprouts, Yucca Schidigera, Folic Acid, Whole Clove Garlic, Parsley, Chondroitin Sulfate, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium Longum, Lactobacillus Salivarius, Enterococcous Faecium, Vitamin A, D3, E, B12 Supplements, Choline Chloride, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Riboflavin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Menadione Sodium Bisulfate (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Biotin, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Manganous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Cobalt Carbonate, Calcium Iodate, Sorbic Acid, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Sodium Selenite.

    Guaranteed Analysis:
Protein 24% Minimum Fiber 3.5% Maximum
Fat 16% Minimum Moisture 10% Maximum

I've seen this food, and was impressed with it, but it was ridiculously expensive at the feed store.
    • Gold Top Dog
Yes, I paid $46 for 30 lbs. I'm probably going to use this in the winter when she needs the oils, and Eagle Pack in the summer. Or alternate.

It's only ten bucks more than Eagle Pack, though.

I pay around 40 for 33 lbs of Innova.  But with 6 BIG dogs that extra 6 bucks would really add up.

You know, I never know if what I pay is "normal" or due to what is facetiously called up here the "Alaska Discount"--everything is more expensive up here for many reasons, one big one: people charge more because they CAN. [:@]

I kinda feel better hearing how much you have to pay, Glenda. [:)]

That's really cheap for Innova.  I think that the new MSRP is around 45 or higher now.

I replied on your other post in the old forum, but I will do it again here :)  Fromm is the BEST food that I have found.  The ingredients are great and all my dogs like it better than any other food.  I alternate between the salmon and the duck...the duck is their favorite.  I live in Wisconsin, and that is where it is made, so maybe that's why the price is more reasonable here...I pay about $40 for 30 lb.

Thanks Alicia, I saw your post on the other board, but I forgot it was from WI. (You should add that location to your profile so it shows in your posts, hint hint.)

I think six bucks for shipping is a lot, but then, if I ordered it online I bet it would be the same, and that's how they probably figure it.

I added my location just for you [;)]

I've posted twice about this food tonight but I think this thread needs a third mention.
I switched my dogs to Precise Plus you can go to the food thoughts thread in nutrition to see how I found out about it.

I will look into it, I don't remember that they have it up here. But you never know. Thanks.

I fed the regular fromm formula to my minpin years ago. He liked it and did well on it.
The ingredients look good to me.

Sorry but OAT HULLS have WHAT nutritional value ? Also there is much controversy about the use of Menadione in petfood. These are two of the main reasons why I chose NOT to carry Fromm's in my store. The third was that they use canola oil which is a refined genetically engineered oil.

Arrrgh. I have no problem with oat hulls, given all the other excellent ingredients ...

But menadione...drat. I missed that. I'm devastated. I have written the manufacturer and am hoping for the best and have BCC'd Mordanna on it, too. They seem like nice people, but we'll see how they react.

I eat canola oil and I'm not going to have problem with that, either. I can't afford to eat everything organic, especially not in Alaska. I wish I could but we are lucky to have fresh food up here at all during the winter, never mind it being organic. Summer is different, I can get fresh organic produce then. There is no natural health food store in Fairbanks, none, zippo, zilch. The nearest health food store is 350 miles away in Anchorage.

Oh well, back to Eagle Pack.
