Nutro- Holististic VS Bufallo Blue

I have an 8 year old German Shepherd who has elevated liver counts. She has been on the all natural form of Nutro since March. Before this she was on Nutro senior. In March her liver count was 490. (110-120 is normal). We went through the gamit of tests... no real explination for the elevation. So I have lowered her protein and increased the veggies. She went in Friday for a teeth cleaning and to check her liver counts again. They are now down to 198!!!! Much better.

But they had to pull two of her biggest molars because the crowns were cracked. Poor thing she is in so much pain right now.

My question is... I have been researching different foods because she does not like the Natural Nutro. I have been reading about Buffalo Blue. Should I make the change? Any information is greatly appreciated.

If you think it's worth a try, go for it (it is a good food). However, it seems your feeding regimen that lowered her liver count works, so it may not be worth changing.

Thank you for the reply. My biggest reason to switch is that she does not really like the natural nutro. I have also been reading about Dog that get sick often from Nutro. They throw up the yellow bile. She has been doing this but we thought it was caused by her liver.

I just want what is best for her. Has anyone else ever made the switch? Nutro to Buffalo that is.

My Cocker Spaniel didn't do well at all on Nutro Natural Choice.... he threw up undigested food and his coat got really dull and dandruffy.

I think Blue Buffalo is a much, much better food (the best available at Petsmart in my opinion). I would definitely give it a try and see how it works for your dog.
