    Which One Is The Best?

    Here are the choices...

Innova (not EVO), Canidae, Chicken Soup, California Natural, Natural Balance, Solid Gold...

Which one is the best (saying the dog did great on all of them)? [8|]

If any of you feed one of these, could you please tell me your experiences...what you like/dislike about the food?

    Natural Balance :-)

That's what I'm feeding my dog currently
    *edit*
You could also go here [linkhttp://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=comp-wiz]http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=comp-wiz[/link] and you can compare each food, that you list & see what you want to give to your dog

I would say Innova. It has a lot of healthy ingredients from all 5 food groups (some people say dogs don't need veggies/fruits, but I think they are beneficial). It also has probiotics. If my dog didin't have allergies, I would definately feed this to her.

I have fed Chicken Soup, Innova and Canidae.

Prince did pretty good on all of them but had HORRIBLE gas with Canidae...even more than with Chicken Soup. Innova he did the best on, although he did have a bit more dandruff than with the other two. But his stools were few and firm and his coat was shiny. He ate Innova with enthusiasm too. He picked at the other two.

I switched him from Chicken Soup b/c of the Diamond recalls. I just didn't want to take the chance with my dogs health. And Prince had horrible gas and a huge amount of stool when he was on it. Ingredient wise, I felt that Innova and Canidae were very similar quality wise but Prince just wouldn't eat Canidae. He would eat a couple of bites and then stop. And the gas was soooooooooooooooooo bad. I mean wake you out of a dead sleep bad! [:'(]

I decided to make the switch back to Innova but am trying him on EVO. So far his dandruf is really clearning up, his eye boogers are going away and his stools are no longer huge cow pies. Oh and he hasn't farted in almost a week. Well...not the noxious kind anyways.

IMO from the foods I have tried, I find Innova to be the best. But that is just my experience. It may not be that way for every dog. :)

We've tried Innova...but it was EVO. Toby did alright on it...but soon got bored.

We're currently trying Canidae and Toby (pickiest eater on earth) gobbles it like it was a bowl of treats!!!!  But his poop has increased from 2 poops a day to three.

We're in the process of changing over to Timberwolf Organics....but too soon to comment on it.

Toby also gets one home cooked meal per day.

I don't think there's any one "best" of those choices, they're all really good foods and it just depends on how your individual dog reacts to them....

Edited to add that if I had to pick one of those (and assuming my dog wasn't allergic to chicken), I would choose Innova.

I agree with you. I was going to point out what the most popular foods are but you're right. One shouldn't choose a food just because it's the popular thing. That being said, I don't see anything wrong with trying something new just for a little bit. And actually, I'm looking forward to seeing Papi's paper. But just the same, I think all the foods she listed were good.

I have fed Chicken Soup and found it to be an excellent food.  The only reason we switched to EP Large Breed Puppy is because the protein in the CS was a bit too high for our Golden Puppy (trying to keep his growth slow and steady).  But otherwise, I thought it was great.  They were happy to eat it, they had firm stools, coats look good. BTW, I'm getting the same results from EP. Christi

I think Innova is the best.  I fed it to Zoe but wanted to rotate it with something else so I currently use Canidae.  I also think it is very good but Innova (not evo) is my favorite!  She has no gas issues on Canidae but did a little bit on Innova until I reduced the amount and the problem was solved!

Dakota has been on Innova for several months.  He loves it!!!  His fur is so soft, and his poo is firm (and there is hardly any).

Of those choices I have used Chicken Soup, Canidae, Solid Gold, and Innova. The only one that did not work out was Canidae - my dog wouldn't eat it at all and I'm guessing he just doesn't like the taste of lamb. Chicken Soup was fine, the dog did well on it. I stopped using it during the whole Diamond scare. Solid Gold was good too, dog did well on it. I changed after 6mo just to rotate ingredients and switch proteins sources from beef to poultry. Now we're using Innova, the dog is still doing well. The only difference I have noticed between any of these foods is that the dog poops less (fewer times per day and with less volume) on Innova. Everything else - energy, skin and coat quality - seem the same. I can't speak for Cal Nat or Natural Balance but I give the thumbs up to all the rest.

maybe it's hard to say which one is best. One might suit to someone's dog but not everyone's dog.

Ditto to luvntzus. It depends on your individual dog. I like all the choices but for different dogs because they don't all react the same to the food. Pick one and if you don't like it, go to a different one.

Tried all of these, but Innova.

My dog didn't like Canidae and he was constipated on it, but that is probably from the chicken/turkey, which in large amounts he has problems with.  From working at a pet supplies store, however, I can tell you that most people had great results with Canidae.  Didn't hear too many complaints about it.  I also know alot of Golden Retriever breeders use it, so they must know something about how well Canidae is for GR's, probably coat.

Chicken Soup.  My dog loved it.  But he pooped alot and the feeding recommendations recommended feeding alot more than other premium foods recommend.  I highly recommend this food for fussy eaters

California Natural.  I tried the Lamb and Rice formula and my dog didn't like it, which is expected with a lamb formula  This is a great food for dogs with stomach and skin problems as it is very simple.

Natural Balance.  I recently tried the Duck and Potato formula.  I've also tried the sausage rolls.  My dog loves the Duck and Potato formula.  He also loves the Duck and Potato treats.  The sausage rolls are the best, but unfortunatly I discovered his ear infections are caused by wheat and the NB sausage rolls contain wheat, so no more.

Solid Gold.  I have tried all of the formula's except for the new Bark at the Moon.  My dog loves the Wee Bits formula.  I rotate between foods for variety.  SG Wee Bits is in his regular rotation.  He does great on this food, which is a Bison meat based formula.  The Hudenflocken, which is Solid Gold's Lamb adult formula my dog wouldn't touch and from working at a pet store that sold it, I've heard that alot.  My dog also loved Solid Gold's Holistique formula, but I only gave him a sample because this formula is really meant for dogs with weight, kidney, or liver problems.  It's really low in fat and protien.

Do you have a German Shepard?  Solid Gold makes a large breed formula called Wolf Cub (largre breed pup food) and Wolf King (adult large breed). I've heard and seen big guys do great on this food.

I wouldn't say any are better than another.  All of these foods are great.  As you can see it just depend on what your dog does well on.
