Chocolate Saltine Bars

• Chocolate Saltine Bars Sue and Buddy Posted : 11/18/2006 9:31:12 PM I am making these for our church bake sale tomorrow.  I haven't had them since last year.  I forgot how good they are.  If you like a salty-sweet combination, you will love these.   Chocolate Saltine Bars   Saltines 1 C. butter 1 C. brown sugar 1 to 1 1/2 C. chocolate chips   Foil and lightly grease a sheet pan.  Line the pan evenly with saltines.  Boil 1 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar for 5 minutes stirring frequently while boiling.  Pour evenly over saltines and bake in 350 degree oven for 5 minutes.  Immediately remove from oven, put chocolate chips on top and frost after melted.  Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.  Refrigerate and break into pieces when hard.  Tastes best when served cold.   Sue LIKE 5 REPLIES 178 VIEWS LAST POST ERIN Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • Erin Posted : 12/14/2006 5:23:56 AM my mom has made these for years and now i've started making them.  i'll make a batch and eat the whole thing within 24 hours, they're so addictive.  and they're probably the easiest things in the world to make.  i'm glad i saw this post, now i know what to make for a christmas party i'm going to this weekend   and it's so cheap too lol    oh and after i make them, i put the baking sheet on a towel in the freezer...they get more firm and it's like toffee...then i'll break it into pieces and store in a tupperware container in the freezer, and when i feel like having them a little softer i put them in the fridge for a little while and the butter/sugar gets a little gooey and it's easier to make.  0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
