    Pressure Canned Chicken Thighs

I make home made dog food for my dogs, as well. We buy chicken thighs in bulk and then pressure can them for the dogs. I know I am not supposed to feed dogs cooked chicken bones because of the splintering. The pressure canned bones seem very soft to me. The question I have is this: could I blend all the meat and bones together and puree it in a food processor and feed it to my dogs? They can eat the bones if the meat is raw so I don't see why the dogs can't eat the pressure canned bones if they are pureed with no chance of splintering. Please help me understand if I should do this or not. Thank you! :-)

Hi a really good friend of mine feeds raw and does give bones as long as they are not cooked. I always like to err on the side of caution so please just check with your vet. I'm also going to look into this a bit more as well.

Hi; dogs need calcium in their diet and if you don't feed raw or cooked bones, you need to add some. calcium. Are you feeding other foods besides the chicken? Meat alone is not a balanced diet, especially chicken. It will be lacking in b vitamins, zinc, and other nutrients.
