    Innova to Orijen

    Best.Decision.Ever.

Lilly wasn't really interested in her kibble and seemed to be barely eating it. After the recall all the Pet stores I shop at removed not just the specific lot number bags but all the bags dated the same time of production as the lot number bags and next thing you know the shelves were empty for two weeks and I really needed dog food!

I had liked the looks of Orijen while others complained to me it was too much protein. I said I will give it a try anyway.

Huge hit! I've never seen Lilly eat kibble so fast. We only serve 2/3 cup and that is the perfect amount. Her stool looks fantastic not even a hint of issues switching cold turkey. I'm so happy! :)

I'm a huge fan of Orijen despite its ridiculous price.

Very glad you got the right amount to feed too - some people have trouble getting to the right amount (usually less than other brands) and the dogs have soft or runny poop. Once they are fed less it seems to clear for most dogs.

Ditto. I have been rotating between Orijen and their sister company Acana, which is slightly cheaper.

We were shopping for food and this woman with this German short-haired was like "oh we feed the same food!... oh no wait we feed Acana. Orijen was too much protein". What is YOUR opinion on the difference? It would be nice to rotate with something so she doesn't get bored with kibble. How often do you rotate? After a bag is done?

Bugsy has some serious allergies to chicken, egg, turkey and other bird related items so we use Orijen fresh fish. I did try the Acana pacifica but honestly he didn't do as well so I bite the bullet and buy the Orijen. Plus it is the food I have to feed the least of so that is also good in my book.

The whole too much protein is so weird to me - they aren't humans. What I found with a hyper dog is that high protein diet = a much more even energy. When I give him lower protein with carbs he has a much more uneven energy (read he is manic for shortish periods, but who needs a manic 105lb dog?)

I know of others that alternate with excellent results so I would do what you like with their range. I trust Champion foods 100% and if he didn't have allergies I'd rotate. Of course I am lucky as he'd eat anything :)

It depends on when the bag is near empty and how close to payday it is. lol. He's been happy with Acana and is doing fine, so the last two bags have been Acana Ranchlands. I might get Orijen again if I find a good deal or a nice coupon somewhere. I honestly don't pay too close of attention to the protein levels. I feed him just a hair under a cup. He's not as active in the winter. Sometimes in the summer I up it a bit if he's getting a bit too ribby. He's a vizsla so he's a bit ribby naturally, but I can tell if he's getting too thin.
