California Natural Grain Free Chicken final thoughts

Well...  things were going great with Lexi and Darby (bichons, darby with the yeasty issues) while on this food.  Darby's yeasties cleared up, even the tough lip fold ones- for a while.  Last couple of weeks she's back to rubbing and scratching at her face and her lips are red and yeasty again, unfortunately.

Worst of all is the poop issue!!  ROCK hard poops. So hard that it caused colitis in the girls.  Darby appeared to be very uncomfortable while trying to poop.  Poor thing.  Blood in her stool... and she was holding it in knowing that it was going to hurt.  LIterally, poop scooping, the poops klunked into the pail like rocks. :(

So some slippery elm tea to help with the colitis and switch to a different food cleared it right up.

Not sure if I'll feed it again or recommend it.

Just sharing if anyone is considering it.  Next up on the agenda is Fromm Four-Star grain free foods.

Wow, those are severe, almost extreme, issues.  I am surprised to read this, since it is a good food, and sad that your pups (and you) had to go through all this.

Hope you are keeping a log, as over time it will become tough to remember which food, which formula, which dog, which issues.  Been through that part of it.  Good luck going forward!

Oh yes, I keep journals for each of the girls.  I've gone through a lot of foods and I"m terribly picky with the results (as most everyone on IDOG knows LMAO!).

I have not had much luck with Natura products.  As I reread, Innova caused rock hard poops and 2 of my dogs at the time got anal gland impactions :(.  Yikes.

Same trouble with mine and Evo.Have you ever tried adding water to the kibble. That works for Noel who tends to have dry stools without it.Some dogs just won't drink enough to make softer stools.

Yes I always add water to their meals.  She's switched over to Fromm now and pooping normally now. No blood or screaming!
