Beware Chicken Jerky Treats from China -- AGAIN!

In the past 2 weeks, the FDA has received over 400 complaints of dogs getting ill and / or dying after eating chicken jerky treats made in China.  I am still trying to track down more info, this is what I have found so far:

    http://news.petpardons.com/fda-receives-over-400-new-reports-of-dog-treat-poisoning-with-no-recall-in-sight/

Pass this along to everyone you know who owns a dog.  One thing the above article emphasizes:  The FDA has been posting warnings associated with the treats since 2007, but most consumers are not aware of the notices.

Note:  The leading US importer of chicken jerky treats has stubbornly refused to recall. Cases of their products line the shelves at Giant Eagle, Wal Mart, Walgreens and other stores, and coupons for consumers continue to be found in newspapers and circulars.

BeerThis is RECENT, as of Feb 19, 2012!

Thank you so much for posting this. I avoid chicken because Jessie's allergic to it, but bought a package of duck jerky at PetsMart about a month ago. The company is Canyon Creek and it says on the front of the package that it's an American company. I looked at the back of the package a few days later and in small print at the bottom it said the product is made in China. Angry I threw them out and it made me so mad. I think Canyon Creek is deceptive in their packaging, but I'm sure what they did is perfectly legal

I've been using their chicken jerky -- I truly think this is what caused Sugar to have the elevated liver enzymes a few weeks back!  That is when I turned the package over and discovered it IS from China.  ACK!  Stopped using it immediately.

I also have an unopened bag, but no receipt.   I would like to get my $32 back!!!   It really is deceptive, isn't it.

Ouch; that's a lot of money to lose. The bag I got Jessie was small and only about $8, thank goodness. I had given her a few of them before I noticed they were made in China and didn't want to return an opened bag.

If you’re looking for a SAFE, REAL ‘American Made’ chicken jerky for dogs or cats, we started making our own Chicken Jerky for our 3 dogs after we ran across the FDA warning of 2008 about Chinese chicken treats making dogs sick or killing them. It turned into a cottage "Mom & Pop" business and we now sell our TriPom Chews online and in 20 stores in the New England area. Our products are the only homemade, handmade, ‘Maine Made’, ‘American Made’ Chicken Jerky produced from whole, restaurant-quality chicken breasts containing NO Additives and NO Preservatives. Our 3 Pomeranians (our babies!) taste test every batch for quality.

It's hard but I try to avoid anything purchased from China!
