 Cool! Where are you doing this at? I'd love to try it, hopefully one day I can get to it at a place near me. Where are you doing it at (I am not too familiar with NJ counties, but I am thinking you live fairly far from where I live)?

My classes are at Top Dog Obedience School in Flanders, which is about 15 miles from me.  The instructor also teaches them at Hunterdon Canine Center in Flemington. 

Where in PA are you?  We're actually only a few minutes from both Easton and the Delaware Water Gap.

 The you go to is about an hour and a  half from us, and I couldn't do that time anyway. Flemington, however, is not too bad. Maybe 45 minutes or so. We're going to Frenchtown for the flyball team training. They even have it at a time I could do at that place, but the next one starts Saturday. Perhaps we'll have to check that out in the Spring, when the chances of bad weather  should be less.

I'm near the Newtown exit from 95. Sort of between Trenton and Philadelphia, but a little closer to Trenton.

I think nosework is something Spip would enjoy. She spends most of her walk time sniffing the ground sounding like a pig looking for trufles and pee marking some. I have found this ( http://www.dogstardaily.com/blogs/getting-started-nose-work) that explains how to get started without a class. Is is any good for a try-out in the opinion of those who do or did take classes ? Next pouring down week-end with no walkies we might try it in the living room. The hard part will be to separate the Monstresses so they take turns.

That's pretty much how we started in class.    I found it easier to put Caleb in the bathroom when I make the hide.  When we worked outside in the fall, I stuck him in the house.  "Reward at the box" means to give more treats right where the hide was- put your hand right there (in the box, on the spot if you aren't using a box, etc).  Honestly, tho, you could just do a version of hide n seek by hiding a treat and not use boxes.  Caleb has been doing that since right after he came home at 8 weeks.

Since they are allowed in the kitchen at all times (even when we cook), we worked at not having them look for food on the floor so I think using the boxes would be a better option for us. Also, since they know that sometimes boxes come with stuff for them in there the "gotta find it" connection would be easier for them to get.
