    Need recipe for Chicken jerky

Help!  My shih tzu loves Chicken jerky, but I refuse to buy anything made in China.  I began feeding her Blue Buffalo Brand jerky, but at $8.00 for a 3.25 ounce bag........ugh!  I would like to make my own.  My friend lent me a dehydrator to try out.  Does anyone have a recipe, or do I simply put clean, thin, strips into the dehydrator and let it run for about 8-10 hours?

I'm guessing seasoning is not essential?  I've read to store them in a zip lock in the freezer.

If anyone has experience with this, please share your thoughts.

    Thanks!!!!

You don't need to add any seasoning.  Let the strips go until they're the dryness you want.  The time will depend on how thick the strips are and how good your dehydrator is.  You can also do it in the oven on a real low temp.

Jealous!! I have always heard to just put the chicken in the dehydrator plain. I've always wanted to make sweet potato chewies in a dehydrator too.

I've got 3 big tubs of meat in the fridge marinating for the past 2 days.  For me ...not the dogs.  I usually throw some minute steaks in for the dogs to eat and sometimes i'll soak them for a few days with beef or chicken stock (low sodium).

I LOVE my dehydrator!  If you're going to use chicken breast then ask the butcher or cutter at the store to slice them for you.  No more than 1/4inch thick and no less than 1/8inch thick.  Trust me....this will make your job soooooo much easier!

I also rotate my trays for better dehydrating.
