1 leg down, 2 to go

Day 2 went with no issues. It was decent weather, Maze was ready to go. We get in the ring, and we're off. Maze rocked! We Q'ed with a 187. Great! On to the next run. We did great, until I messed up. Lol. I trained Maze to sit when ever I stop and I got lost on the run so I stopped to get my bearings and guess what.. Maze sat. Bam! NQ IP.

Otherwise all went well. Maze did really considering we have never seen the signs before. All the positions that caused us problems during training where no big deal!

People were more surprised when they found out that I don't train with anyone. And our heel work was complemented Smile

So I'll be taking August to fine tune some things then come September, we're going for the final 2 legs!

ETA: On the runs that I NQ'd on, I did the math to see what my final score would have been. I nearly cried.. 197,194, and 190

Woke up at 7:30am.. Hauled my ass outta bed at 8. Mom and I walked the dogs to Tim Hortons for coffee then it's off to the trial. Lo and behold.. It's RAINING!

We set up the crate and chair when one of the ladies offered us a large umbrella to use (thank GOD!). We were very thankful for it as it started to rain harder..

Maze and I did some warm up on the side lines. She had some grumbles about the other dogs but otherwise no issues. Then our turn was up. We were doing good, lost a couple points for a tight leash (maze stopped to sniff). Then the NQ... I misread the sign. It said Forward instead of Finish.. I thought it said Finish so I had Maze sit. We continued on to the 3 cone spiral, Maze's hated sign cuz she doesn't see the point.. She sat in the middle, telling me she didn't want to do it.

Overall for our first trial we had a great experience. Maze did amazing, the people were friendly and the judges were very helpful.

We had a minor dog fight between Dexter and another dog No one was hurt and no one was to blame. The other dog pulled up the stake he was tied to while his owner help set up the ring. I got a minor bite on my calf and Dexter recovered quite fast. During the entire thing, Maze sat quietly in her crate while Mom and I dealt with the scuffle.

This is all that counts in the long run.  :)  Good luck for today!

What were you competing in?  Sounds like Rally, but not AKC Rally...??

CARO Rally O. I can't compete in CKC rally cuz Maze is a mixed breed.
