Before and After pictures of Maze *pic heavy*

With so many new people on the forum, I'll post a bit of history on Maze.  Those of you that know this, just skip to the pictures Stick out tongue

Maze is a 4yr Black Lab/BC mix who has allergies to the oddest stuff. And we're still finding more. Anyways, I got her at 4 weeks, vaccinated twice then she had a massive reaction to her shots so I stopped them. She was spayed at 8 months and pretty much stopped growing.   When she was about 6 months old, she lost all her hair for no reason (that we could find). After trial and error we managed to get her coat back,  We were also battling chronic ear infections.   Because she was so sick, we missed the crucial socialization period and she became fear aggressive. She also was diagnosed with a bad heart. Now with everything else going on, we were playing musical kibble. We went from Pedigree to Evo to Healthwise to Cal. Nat. to TOTW to dehydrated raw. Nothing was helping.  She stunk to high heaven, had horrible teeth. We couldn't keep weight on her. And she'd puke in the morning no matter what we did.  In a fit of frustration I started cooking for her. My other dog (Sandy) was already being fed Raw at this point but I was worried about doing the same with Maze.  Well she told me that she was ready for it and we made the switch from Homecooked to pure Raw (after MUCH research).

The change is amazing. Her smell is gone, her teeth are nice and white, her coat is soft and shiny. And she's a healthy weight! We're having a minor allergy attack right now that we're working through but other then that! Well.. Look for yourself Stick out tongue

Here you can see how flat her coat was and how thin she was

Now is this diet for everyone? NO! But for Maze, I feel it saved her life. She is a completely different dog.

Mods, if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move.

Her teeth especially look pearly clean!

Now, let's clean up those floors, too!!! lol

    • Gold Top Dog

Lol!! Yes I know the floor is dirty. Sadly the only way to get the carpet back to the original carpet is to pull it up and replace it. It came with the house.

the cigarette butts and ashes just add a new color, right? lol Wink

My floor is covered in dog hair every time I turn around, so I'm not one to talk. lol

4 smokers and a dog tail at table height Stick out tongue  You try and keep the carpet clean. Lol

    Maze looks great!

I am all for the raw diet.  I feed raw also and my girls are doing great.  The bichons have stopped with their itchies and yeasties, and 11 yr old couch potato, Lexi, who avoided going on walks at all costs now is the first out the door to go on walks with the rest of us.

Echo has grown nicely, nice coat, teeth, breath (all dogs).  And Echo's touchy tummy does great on grain free raw.

Even put the neighbor's cocker on raw while she's here. Have her yet till the 3rd.  I should've done before/after pics with her!  She was chubby (fat pad on chest and a hangy belly).  She's now got a nice waist, the fat pads are gone, she's much more playful. Her gunky teeth are whitening up and she is not gassy, fighting loose stools nor dragging her bottom any more (her anal glands have been a lifelong problem for her, according to her humans).   I told her humans I put her on a natural diet and I'll be happy to help them if they'd like to continue for her.   She is doing incredibly well.

ANd it's like you said, the dog will let you know if they can tolerate it.  Yay raw!!!

And I just finished processing 6 chickens for the dogs (I grind, for various reasons).

No its called taking a WELL DESERVED BRAG on a dog that you have been working with for way too long. Its called being busy and seeing something finally pay off.

Grow some Tact and stick to original topic.

I think what you have done with Maze is great Amber. I don't really care what you carpets look like.

    Yes I agree.

Commenting on someones housekeeping, on an open forum, was and is in very poor taste.

My living room and walls need painting, and I am at best a decent housekeeper, but I might have to rethinking posting pictures if I am going to be judged on how my home looks.

    Keep that in mind.

Maze looks great!  Raw really has agreed with her!

WOW!  And here I thought that this was a thread on the befores & afters of raw feeding.  I sure didn't think it was a "Give your opinion on how clean my house is" thread.  How truly pathetic.Confused

I personally don't care what my carpets look like.  And yes I do have a vacuum however 4 outta 5 people have long hair, I own 3 major shedding animals and I really don't like vacuuming everyday. So if my carpet looks like crap, so what.

Thanks for the compliments on Maze. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can see the changes in her.

She looks amazing!  Ack, my carpet looks HIDEOUS, despite hoovering it every day, not having any smokers in the house and only one dog that doesn't shed much.  Some days I wonder: what is the POINT of getting the vacuum out, it's still going to look horrid when I am done!  WHEN I win the Lotto, I am hiring a cleaner.  Two cleaners!!

    • Gold Top Dog

    Maze girlie, you look boooootiful!

Great job, Amber, I know how much frustration you've had in getting her food & allergy stuff figured out.   Pat yourself on the back woman!

I feel the same which is why I never put mine away!  3-4 large double-coated dogs known as "German Shedders".  Oh and the DUST!  It's about 20degrees (-6 C) so the furnace runs constantly and I have to dust several times a week and vacuum every day or I feel sick.

Maze looks great!  We don't have any allergies here but my dogs were all very dry and itchy b/c of the weather.  I started salmon oil and in just a few weeks their skin is back to normal and their coats could not be any healthier.  It's amazing at what even a single change in the diet can do.
