Does anyone feed their pup Halo dog food?

I researched many different foods and I liked the ingredients in this the best.  Anyone have any experience with it?

I make my dog food but use Halo for my cats they love it. You cant beat the ingredients. They also have recipe for their dog and cat food under resources on their site. You can buy it or make it. I have never heard of a company that will give you their recipes and encourage the practice.

I'm slightly confused by their site. I've always thought that Meal meant dehydrated meat, meaning if its listed first or second, it is usually worth more than a Meat listed in the same place. Wiki defines it as:

Chicken meal, according to the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), is the dry rendered product from a combination of clean chicken flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from whole carcasses of chicken, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails.[citation needed] A meal in general is "an ingredient which has been ground or otherwise reduced in particle size."[1] Chicken meal is ground up chicken meat that has been carefully dried to a moisture level of 10%. The protein content is 65% and the fat level is 12%. Regular chicken contains about 70% water with 18% protein and 5% fat.

By this definition I WANT Chicken Meal listed more than Chicken Meat. (If I want a chicken formula, Fish Meal if I want fish etc.) But by Halo's definition "Meal" is the devil. So by listing Chicken alone, the third ingredient, Pea Protein and the fourth, Oats may very well amount to more than the chicken does, and very likely are more when combined. Chicken meat weighs alot, but its mostly water. That water is lost when the food is dried, so...I would rather it was meal. Maybe I'm wrong.

I agree..It seems like a food light on meat and heavy on peas and oats.At 70 dollars for just over 30 lbs. I would like more meat in the formula. Tena

Years ago I read the book written by one of Halo's founders or directors--someone highly associated with the company.  I think it's called the Whole Pet Diet or something similar.  And I was flabbergasted at the horriblly unbalanced recipes (no mention of supplementation with calcium, etc.), wild claims of curing cancer and stuff like that.  It was among the worst books I've ever read about pet nutrition.  I made up my mind right then to take Spot's Stew off my list of potential pet foods.

Now that was quite a few years ago, so maybe they've changed and maybe that person is no longer associated with them.  But it raised so many red flags in my mind about the company that I don't think I'd ever be able to bring myself to buy any of their products.

Also, the founder of Halo used to always say that dehydrated food made for dehydrated, unhealthy pets, and that Spot's Stew would never come in a dry formula.

    Behold, their dry formula.

They also now have an OMGFAMOUSCELEBRITY as a co owner of the company. It just all seems like a lot of show, to me.

It really makes me sad that Ellen supports/co-owns this food line. I really like her, and her show. But the food makes me cringe.
