    Shrimp

Last night I was taking out some frozen shrimp to thaw for dinner, Bugsy was super interested and recently someone had told me they gave their dog frozen shrimp as a treat so I gave him one.  WOW did he like it!

    So any reason not to?

BTW these were frozen raw in shell.  I would never give him a bunch of them because I know they use a salt water solution to flash freeze them but as an every once in a while treat?

We have shrimp often - usually local fresh never frozen, would that be OK?

Shrimp is good for them, though not sure if raw shrimp is okay or not.

My .02 cents, when I was taking Bear to tcvm for the seizures, because he was "warm" in the Eastern medicine, shrimp was a no-no because it is warming.

    Shrimp is good for them,

Bugsy says I love you Aunt Tina what a good answer LOL

Interesting about the 'warming' nature of it

They made Emma break out in hives, but the other dogs get them, and love them. I'm a silly vegetarian, so I'll occasionally order a pasta dish with shrimp, and ask them to make it WITHOUT, but set the shrimp aside for my dogs. They LOVE it. It's a rare treat, here.

Gina you silly woman we have a LOT of shrimp here - staple food for DH so we can share Big Smile

Thanks Jenny - glad to say he had no issues from it at all

You want to avoid "warm" stuff if the dog is inflamed.  (and that has to do, probably with the state of his liver, Tina -- it was likely where the seizures stuff began in him) -- I've had times when Dr. D TOLD me to give Billy shrimp (because of some nutrient in them).

My dogs love shrimp -- and *I* have to be uber careful -- there is something that they 'wash' them in or something that can actually trigger the itchies in me -- nit's not ALL shrimp -- it's definitely how it's processed or prepared (but it's make me all but give UP shrimp because it's so unpleasant when I do react to them).

I've never tried giving Gizmo shrimp but now I'm a bit curious if she would like it.

Can I move in with all you shrimp eaters? It's extremely hard to find FRESH raw shrimp around here.
