Nice speed!  He looks like he loves it.  Good job, team!

Thanks!  Critiques are welcome.  Right now I'm working on the jumping.  He has the same issue in agility - anytime the dumbbell (or reward toy) comes into play, he will jump flat as the drive level increases.  When we are only doing jump technique, he is fine (and you can see he stops in front of the jump, then clears it).  I'm trying to tackle this one at home since our club's jump is solid wood so the dogs can get away with constantly clipping the top.  I'd also like more speed and power but am waiting to really rev him up until he can do this in his sleep.  More drive = less clarity in the mind = possible chewing.  Right now there is NO chewing so I'd rather have a more nonchalant looking retrieve that is technically correct than use prey drive (or pressure) for more speed and power and get something hectic.

That said I'm proud of the little monster.  His retrieve is 100% backchained with mark>reward.  He figured it all out himself.  It's been a successful week.  He is indicating articles on a track and running the blind.

So if I send you Sandy, can you teach her that??!! Lol.. She's got the concept of going after the toy, but not that she has to bring it back! Lol.

Nice work!  No critique from me to be sure; I'm no expert...but he looks great.  Towards the end it looked like you were trying to adjust his footing (with your foot).  Was he not in the right spot?  Or was it something completely different?

I need to send Heidi to you for a while.  She would have a blast learning what you train!

Yes I was kicking at his toes.  He does an annoying rock back sit and I hate when he's not squared in front.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh, you mean that "lazy sit?"  That drives me nuts.  And I don't even compete.  It just looks so, well....lazy.  I tend to praise her when she sits squared.

    • Gold Top Dog

He leans back into the sit instead of tucking his butt under.  It actually helps when we are heeling and he has to do the automatic sit in basic position, because he will forge sooner than lag so a rock-back sit puts him in perfect position.  But in front position he is sometimes a tad sloppy.  Also I randomly tease him to reinforce the hold on the dumbbell.

     Great job Lies and Nikon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wow really great stuff, congrats

Very nice. :)  It's hard to tell but it looked like he was releasing as soon as you put your hand on the dumbell.  I'm sure you are giving a command to drop but you may want to extend the time between when you have your hand on it and when you give the release command.   It can save you if you fumble a bit and he releases in anticipation because your hand is touching or near the dumbell.

Lies, I don't care if hes doing it wrong. That was absolutely spot-on!
