Pig's Feet

    Pig's Feet

Anyone feed them? I saw some at the grocery store (!!!!!) the other day and thought they may make great snacks/chews for the dogs. Before I buy any though thought I'd see if any others have fed them? Do those toenails need to be cut? LOL.

Bailey eats them all the time. I wouldnt feed them as a whole meal, because they dont have much meat on them and are more like snacks/chews.

I usually get whole ones... Ive never to cut the the "toenail" off, Bailey eats the whole thing with no problem.

I give him cow feet/hooves too, he loves those.

I recently started offering pigs feet as a weekly treat.  I also saw them at the grocery store and wondered why anyone would want to buy them EXCEPT for our dogs....LOL.

Anyway, they love them...but I want to supervise.  I freeze them too and give it to them frozen.  Or thawed if I just get home from the store.  Buddy, being elder, has more of a sensitive stomach these days and has trouble with beef treats, but has no problem at all with the pigs feet.

     Pigs feet are great!

But as said, I wouldn't offer it as an entire meal without some "meaty meat" on the side because of the high bone content.  They make fabulous recreational treats. You do not have to trim the toes.

I'd be giving them to 14-17 lb Schnauzers, so they wouldn't even be eating the whole thing (nor would they likely be able to!!). My main interest was as more as a rec chew, and I was just more interested in whether the dogs like them and how well they work for a treat.

Pigs feet probably arnt Baileys favorite treat, but he does like them. They dont last as long as a marrow bone, but it does take him some time to eat. Overall I think they are a pretty good rec chew
