Blue Buffalo

    Blue Buffalo

I am putting Gobie on blue buffalo fish/potato formula (I am aware it has grains in it).  I was thinking maybe a lower protein/fat formula would help with teh huge mushy mucousy poop issue.

When he starts pooping in the crate overnight multiple times, it's time to try something else for him.

Any good/bad experiences with it?    I am always so concentrated on the bichon girls' health. I know it didn't work for them, as they itched and teared.  I prefer to feed from one bag of food, just makes things easier, but Gobie's guts just get worse and worse and now he's not tolerating the PetGuard it seems.  So the girls will stay with PG and Gobie- trying on this one.

Otherwise I was consideirng Eukanuba or Proplan, as I know these both have firmed up his poo before. I just. can't. get. past. the. ingredients.!

But I am also aware the holistic 'richer' foods do not work for all dogs. Gobie may be one. I might have to just close my eyes and go with what helps him most.

I've never fed this product, but I wanted to throw something out there for you to ponder.  Given Gobie's age, is there a possibility that some of his digestive issues are changing because of his age?  Sometimes these older dogs can't process foods, esp. proteins, the way they did when they were younger.

I'm no expert and smaller dogs may age differently than larger ones, but just thought I'd mention it.

The only issue I have with the fish is the paint peeling gas.

Wildnerness has only oatmeal.  Not more than a buck or two difference in price and you'll feed much less.

Blue also has a new sensitive food.

    Hello all,

I have fed my Shepherds chicken & brn rice blue buff. They have very sensitive stomachs and they have thrived on the food. Have you tried that formula? I would try a small bag of that. In Blue buff new line, Blue Basics, their new organic line has a turkey formula. The protein in it is pretty low. It is only 22.0%. I would purchase it from PetsMart, no I don't work for them, because the my local one has a money back guarantee with Blue Buff that if you're not satisfied to bring back the empty bag and they will refund your money no questions asked.

Thanks guys, I don't have a petsmart near me. I do have a tractor supply that carries a few of the BB line, some TOTW, and then Nutro, Euk, etc.  THey have large bags of Euk and Proplan, which would take Gobie MONTHS to get through.  The BB sensitive sounds great though!

I will try him on the Salmon/Sweet potato for a while. And yes, I also do agree, with age, digestion gets worse, at least, it makes sense, and is true for Gobie.  Sucks getting old. Poor man!

I feed my Bichon Blue Buffalo; however, I have had to cut way down on the amount I feed him.  He eats 1/3 cup twice a day.  I switch protein sources each time I buy a bag.  He has been eating this for two years and I wouldn't feed him anything else.

Any store that sells Blue MUST honor the Blue 100% money back guartentee.  If you don't, report them to BB and the company will take care of your problem.

Ick!  I think Iams would be the LAST thing you'd want to feed for yucky poops, well, its actually one of the last thing you'd ever want to feed at all.

My guy eats Blue, he LOVES it, and does very well on it.

I think he's eating the lamb/rice bag now, but I want to try some of the new stuff they've got out. My cats eat the indoor/sensitive kitty stuff - turkey.

I also like the Wilderness, for dogs and cats.

Luke is eating the Wilderness in the blue bag right now, and I just picked up the red bag earlier at Petsmart. I think I tried Wellness once, and that is the stuff I stopped because it didn't agree with him, even after mixing pumpkin in. The other dogs eat that just fine, but it didn't work for him.

I ended up putting Gobie on 4health Lamb/Rice and he's doing much better on that- granted he's also getting flagyl at the moment, but I think the combo is helping.

I have just bought this for Gibby..... and just added one cup to his home cooking...thinking I will change him over slowly...BUT.... only adding 1 cup  to his 3 meals.....he has added too more poop times to his schedule outside......so I'm thinking this is not for him. I'm trying to get him to gain weight...but he does that that funny stomach.....and his vet is trying to talk me into going back to kibble to make sure he is getting everything he needs....so I chose Blue for sensitive.   Not going to work for us I guess.
