I know what you mean about dogs that eat from bowls being obnoxious lol. My dads dog, Jack (the black and white spaniel mix thats always in the pics with Bailey) is fed from a bowl. Whenever his food bowl is put down he usually just sniffs it and walks away, and then comes back for a bite every few minutes, my dad is always saying that hes spoiled or that "whoever had him before fed him *human* food, thats why he doesnt eat his food right away" I dont think that its because hes "spoiled" at all, just that food in a bowl is very un interesting for a dog like Jack. In the summer if i take them both for a long walk, after that he will eat the whole bowl right away but now that its winter and he gets a lot less exercise he isnt to interested in food when its in the bowl. BUT, if for whatever reason I have to feed him (like my dads not home or somthing) I make him work for the kibble (like, doing behaviors for it) or put it in his kong, and he acts like hes never seen food before. When he has to WORK to get it, he really wants it, but when its put right in FRONT of him, he doesnt want it, lol. I dont have that problem with Bailey though, any time, anywhere, if you give him food, he'll eat it.
So, Bailey had his first potato/yogurt/veggie/meat filled kong this week, and he looooooved it. I really need to get the next bigger size kong for him though, whatever size this one is just isnt quite big enough for him. Hes 70 pounds, im thinking an XL is the right size for him? Im pretty sure the one I have is a large, but it just seems to small...
So if hes getting a kong every day, with potato and yogurt mainly, sometimes with veggies, fruit, or meat in it... how much should I cut down his dinner? He normally eats around 1 pound of meat each day (thats on the low side, because hes not very active right now, in the summer its usually 1.5 pounds or more) Im not sure how much the kong stuffiing would equal to for a regular meal...
