    Can't believe I'm doing this...

I'm actually entering Caleb in an AKC sanctioned obedience match next month (that's assuming they haven't reached the limit yet). I'm just going to do Rally instead of traditional Obedience, tho. All I've ever done are show-n-goes/fun matches.
So, now I have to make heads or tails out of the entry form and get it in the mail! LOL

OMG- what am I getting myself into?

A fun time!  Bet you two will do great!

That's great!  I know that you & Caleb will do well!

Oh, it's fun!!!  Go to a sactioned trial before your own, and bring Caleb.  It will be different than show-n-go's, so it's worthwhile to get yourself familiar, and if you're lucky you can get an idea of your competition and the judges.  Having been to show-n-go's, you already know SOOO much more than your competition - like, how much time it takes your dog to be warmed up to go in the ring (some dogs need to shoot straight from the car to avoid getting burned out, others need more than an hour to acclimate)  You already know what things to avoid, what things to look for...  (For me, I always look for the bathroom as soon as I set up - I get nervous bladder every time! lol)

And one more thing... GREAT JOB for training to this level.  You and your dog deserve a historical reference to that work, in the form of your AKC record. Yes  Good luck, and we're all here to support ya!

     Awesome! Good luck!

Also, what you've gotten yourself into is a really, really fun and addictive hobbyBig Smile

Have fun Caleb and Good Luck.

    Fun!! That's what!

Go, have fun, be relaxed. I have done lots and lots of conformation shows, but I really enjoyed the obedience with Gobie. He has 2 legs to his CD. I just never got that last one on him and now he's so deaf I don't think he'd be able to hear my commands.

Gob was HIT (high in trial) both days! Good boy gobie!

If I remember right, the regs say verbal coomand or signal.  It shouldn't be too hard them for Novice, but, then again, I was incororating signals into Caleb's training right from the start.

    Hey- congrats on those HITs!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, but you'd have to hide the fact that he's deaf. Dogs without useful sight or hearing are not allowed to compete.

HITs with a MinPin! WOW! That's awesome! One day, we will start Big Girl Obedience, and hope to get those HITs. Right now, we're just the queens of Rally, LOL.

Aa, now, something in my head was nagging me about the handicap, but I don't always believe what my head is telling me.  LOL
