    Missing Link

A friend told me he gives his dog Missing Link supplement. Does anyone use this? I haven't done a search on it, just looking for feedback right now. His dog has a beautiful coat and is super healthy.

I feed it to my dogs. I love it, I do not use the supplement with added glucosamine/chondroitin, but that is an option. My dogs have GORGEOUS coats, and the shedding is controlable. It is primarily an omega 3 supplement, I forget why I put them on it , it was not just for their coats but let me tell you WOW. My dogs like it too!

I buy mine from Healthypets.com and I get the 5 lb bag (3 dogs) I find it cheaper that way.

I used to use the Wellness version. I liked the ingredients better and it was cheaper. But, with many dogs, it made more sense to put my money into directed supplements. Flax seed isn't that great for all dogs (the primary omega 3 source for these products). I had a dog that was actually allergic to stuff in the "kitchen sink" supplements. So I got into the habit of simply asking, "What particular issue am I addressing?" for each dog.

All my dogs do get high quality fish oil (Seapet Gold) and probiotics. 8 dogs get these, and one 16 oz bottle of the fish oil lasts a month, and the NOW 4x6 lasts two and a half or three months.

But I supplement in a directed fashion for anything else. For example:

Maggie: She gets half a Glyco-Flex III for some stiffness she gets in her front end (tendonitits).

Lu: Also gets a Glyco Flex III, plus evening primrose oil because she's on a diet very low in omega 6s.

Cord: Evening primrose oil because he doesn't seem to process lineoleic acid well

    Gus: Nothing extra

Zhi: Seperate 3-6-9 supplement - Nordic Naturals for kids.

Ted: Potassium supplement, as he seems to need extra potassium to maintain good condition

    Jetta:  Nothing extra

    Sam: Nothing extra

Bugsy was horribly allergic to it - hives and all BUT a good friend feeds it to her lab and his coat is stunning

The one time I gave the girls flaxseed, Layla had a reaction to it. She wierded out all night. I never gave it to them again. Now they gat salmon oil caps and fish oil - I alternate. I wonder if she would have a problem with the Missing Link?

A friend recomended it to me for Baileys allergies a while ago. So i got a 1 pound bag off dog.com and hes been on it for about a month now and he has had a lot less itchy ears. They used to get all red and he would itch them until they bleed but since hes been on it they have impoved alot. Hes never had any supplements before this and i dont have much experience with them but Missing link has been working great so far.

Rosco has the same allergy issues as other, but my girls did really well on it with shiny, bright coats. I may actually get some today, because Luna needs to grow coat and for whatever reason, she grew really nice, healthy, hair on ML.

The first ingredient in Missing Link is flaxseed.
