What do you feed in a pinch?

Ironically enough, this happened tonight.  I feel like an idiot, but somehow I lost track of how much Orijen was left, and realized that the dogs didn't have enough for dinner.  However, I am most fortunate to have a Pet Supplies Plus a few blocks away, so I was able to get them EVO (which they've had on rotation in the past).  I have now ordered more Orijen (:::smacks self on the head:::).

If I didn't have a PSP nearby, I'd probably do Blue Wilderness from Petsmart.  But if I was confronted with a food outage late, the dogs would either fast for a meal or I'd make a chicken-rice mixture for them.

Willow would have to fast or just have something she normally gets as a topper.  She's on a very specific mixture of prescription and some other canned food so if I was out she couldn't have one without the other.

Eggs, cottage cheese, what we are eating if it's dog-friendly, tuna

One other thing - I recently discovered a place very close to me that sells Tripett brand stuff. I can order a case and it will arrive the next day, though it's much more expensive to do that than getting it from K9 Cuisine. But I order from them all the time - I get Gus' and Jetta's bully sticks and treats from them. They have the best prices on natural bully sticks.

    Best Bully Sticks!

So if I ran out of food and needed something fast, I could have a case of Tripett cans here by this time tomorrow. When you live 30 miles from anywhere, that's way cool - sometimes I'm trying to get ready for a trip and don't have time to spend half the day going to Danville just for food. Having it delivered is a great option I've already taken advantage once. It's about $16 shipping, but heck, I spend only slightly less than that driving the Queen Mary to the store and back.

For the dogs, usually eggs, chicken, sometimes with some cooked rice. I'll do a homecooked thing if I'm in a pinch and it's just a day or two. For the cats I'll do Purina One in a pinch.

Ever since we've had two dogs, someone has eaten upstairs, and someone has eaten downstairs. Even when they ate the same food, we kept an upstairs bag and a downstairs bag, but they haven't always had the same type of food. So,if one was out and not the other, they'd probably get the other one's food. If they had the same, all the better. Once, when Georgie was on raw and Max wasn't, I ran out of food for him. I though the little store near me closed at 6 on Sundays, but it closed at 5. I went over to Petsmart, and bought the Blue Buffalo one that is most like Evo. For one day though, as long as my dog weighed enough, and didn't have any health issues, I'd probably skip feeding. If I was stuck, I'd probably cook some rice, add some pumpkin (we always keep bags of pumpkin in the freezer), and use whatever meat I had around. However, that might mean a hot dog or three. If I had to go with something grocery, it would probably be purina one, or I'd do a comparison of what was on the shelf. I'd probably also add some pumpkin to that in the hopes of preempting any stomach problems.
