This was the problem I've had for so long; there was nothing that my little chihuahua could chew on that would make a difference in his teeth.
He finally had his first raw chicken wing yesterday, so far so good, but I only gave him a small part of it for around 15mn or so.
The vet highly recommended these rawhide chews that they sale that have a special enzyme engraved in them to help break the rawhide down as well as the plaque on the teeth. I have given my Pom and my chihuahua each one of them so far; they both spent 3 hrs licking the chewey's to death but were actually unable to eat them entirely....which I thought was a good thing, cause their mouths were getting a great work out, along with their teeth, but their stomach didn't have to worry about the rawhide.
I'm NOT a fan of rawhide, at all. But figured these were worth a try; as a typical dental cleaning is around $4-500 around these parts of the country.
