prescription dog food

I am not a fan of science diet asa rule, but have gone the prescrition route twice and it worked both times.  my one golden had knee surgeries 14 months apart and packed on wight duringthe time oproblems, surgeries, recoveries  nothing got it off her til  my vet finally put her on the SD r/d.  She lost the 18 pounds and never regained it.

then my 10 year old golden male developed a kidney infection and trash in his urine.  my vet put him on the SD k/d for 3 months, antibiotics for 2 weks.  his problem cleared up and he never had another proble in his lsst 2years.  He did not like it and lost a few pounds during that 3 months.   But after seeing the results with KayCee and Buck i would not hesitate to use SD presction fo a problem, or for life if it was needed.

I would never encourage anyone to switch from a food that is working for their pet- no matter what the 'quality' is.

I would. Diseases and poor health due to a poor-quality inappropriate diet are sneaky conditions that take years to develop, and are often not obviously caused by the poor quality diet. Something that "works" short-term may take years off your dog's life and make his last few years a misery.
