Wellness

I've been using the Wellness Just For Puppy for about 4 months now. It's one of the better puppy foods I've tried, my only gripe would be that two of the pups have soft stools, and they all go about 3-4x daily. Aside from that, they are all growing so well I've kept them on it and tolerated the high price (it's about $49 for the 30# bag of puppy food) and the soft, frequent poos that they all like to recycle Tongue Tied  I've really never seen pups grow so evenly - no growth spurts at all, so that is a major bonus!
Now the Wellness CORE Original ... that is a completely different story. We recently gave it a trial run and before we got to the end of the first bag it was apparent the feed was causing problems. I was mainly having a hard time keeping weight on a few of them, coats were ok - not dull, just ok. Spending that sort of money they should have looked fabulous & I shouldn't need to feed so much. They were all pooping more than usual and everyone was eager to recycle poo Ick! Not to say they've never done it ... but most of them were doing it compulsively. From their first meal, they all had a tremendous thirst and were urinating copiously. The 26lb bag only lasted 8-9 days here but I was never so happy to toss a food in the trash. Felt like it was money down the toilet. JMHO.

Core isn't formulated for puppies.  Unless by puppies you were affectionately referring to your adult dogs.  The symptoms sound like typical overfeeding symptoms.

I thought you liked Eagle Pack?  That's an awfully good food and a fantastic company.  What happened?

If you're referring to my post, sorry, should have clarified! We have three pups on the Wellness Just For Puppy, and since that food is working so well for them, I thought I'd give a trial run with the CORE for the adult dogs.
Normally I feed Purina, have never used EP. I always switch to a higher protein feed in the winter. Am just not as happy with Purina ONE as I've been in the past so decided to give the Wellness a try ...

Prancer still gets 1/3rd canned 1/3rd kibble and 1/3rd fresh.  Right now both the canned and kibble are Wellness.    I rotate the canned between Senior (Chicken), Duck, Lamb and Fish.    For kibble she's getting Core Reduced fat.   (she has a hard time with too much fat so I try to keep her at 2x the NRC requirement).       Wellness was ULTRA responsive in getting me the complete nutritional analysis of their foods which is why they 'won' the 'honor' of being our food of choice.    Prancer is doing really well on them.      The only complaint I have is that she seems to have a bit more eye crud then when she was on Natural Balance.  I used only the Duck & Potato or Fish & Sweet Potato varieties of both kibble and canned - no eye crud at all on those.     I have to wonder if she maybe has an allergy to something.   Her poops are perfect and theirs no itching - its just the eye crud thing that I'm noticing.
