    Junior Handling

Well the AKC website, the rules for Junior Handling says that if your a Junior Handler, the dog must be yours or a family members. Could it also be a friend of the familys?

    Rulebook is VERY specific...

"Each dog must be owned or co-owned by the Junior Handler or by the Junior Handler’s father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather, or grandmother, including the corresponding step and half relations, or by a permanent member of the Junior Handler’s household as recorded with The American Kennel Club at the time entries close or an application for transfer of ownership must be sent to The American Kennel Club by the new owner within seven days after the last day of the show. Gina,

That's breed right.  Not sure if that it applies to companion dog events as Juniors don't have a separate program.

That is taken from the JR Pamphlet on the AKC website, this'd be conformation showing in the Junior Showmanship class at an AKC show.

It can be, but the junior has to be signed on as the owner. My beagles have several different owners, all juniors that show them in jr showmanship. The dogs still live with me, but go to shows with the kids when they want them. Thats our way around it. It is not uncommon, many jrs own several different breeds of dogs to get the experience.
