Canned food fatty??

Okay I just bought the EP holistic fish and the bag says to feed a 30lb dog 1-1 3/4 cups per day.  That a big range IMO... anyway, Im thinking of feeding her 1/3 cup with veggies twice a day....?  That would be 2/3 cup total of the EP and I would assume the veggies dont much matter as far as fat and calories go so I wont worry too too much about measuring them just use them at add a little something... what do you think?

Also, for a fat lazy dog [:)]do you think feeding once or twice a day is better?

Twice a day will keep her metabolism higher:)

Remember that dogs are carnivores. They do not process foods like omnivorous (with herbivorous leanings) humans do. They do NOT get any useful energy from carbs. Grains in particular provide them only with useless, nervous, hyperactive energy. These "diet" foods are allllll grain based. Dogs get energy from fat. Fat doesn't make them (or us) obese. Overeating and underexersizing do.

I'd think adding green beans and taking away some of the kibble would be bettter than the canned food.  At least until you get the dog down to the weight you are looking for.

    I may be wrong though

Eagle Pack Holistic has digestive enzymes and a guaranteed amount of direct fed microbials; it is very digestible and your dog should be able to utilize the nutrients very well. Do you know how many calories Bailey has been getting everyday? Use that as a guide and knowing that the Fish is 356 cal. per cup you could start with maybe 100 calories less than he's been getting ? If Bailey's losing weight too fast you can increase the amount; if he's not losing you can decrease it. It will probably  take about a month to determine the right amount; just have him weighed at your vet; you should be able to weigh him anytime you want to; I could when Jessie was losing weight. You should ask your vet how much weight Bailey can safely lose a week ; smaller dogs shouldn't lose as fast as larger dogs and a pound a week was all my vet recommended Jessie lose. One of the most important things to remember is no treats or very few; they add up quickly.
