Weight gain from Nature's Balance?

I too think it is essential that all dogs get exercise every day. "Weekend warriors" are at great risk of injury, because they are never fully fit, and this applies to your dog. Exercising on the weekend and not during the week is very bad for your dog. You wouldn't do that to yourself, and you shouldn't do it to your dog. It doesn't need to be a leash walk, and it does not need to consume enormous amounts of your time, but it must be done daily. My dogs get more exercise benefit from a short intense training game (dog must obey a command to get the frisbee tossed, or to have the tug game start) than a two-hour leash walk. You can buy toys that glow in the dark or have lights on them for those dark evenings, or just do it inside. Anyone can scrape ten minutes in the morning, ten minutes in the evening out of their schedule to engage in a similar activitiy. Also, it's certainly possible to walk dogs in the dark. Get some reflective gear and some safety lights and off you go. If the weather's bad, try some fast heel work all over your house. Send the dog up the stairs to fetch a toy.

I agree with mudpuppy and it's really not hard to step out in the yard and spend 15 minutes tossing a frisbee or having a dog chase a ball down the stairs and return it. Most dogs enjoy being active and Brittany's are supposed to be an active breed. Jessie's eight years old and loves to chase a frisbee or go on a daily walk; if she misses one or 2 days of exercise, which isn't often, she will ask to be let out in the yard more to chase squirrels, or get a toy and try to entice us outside to play.
