Great. My mom has a cat with struvite mucus that refuses to eat canned food, so she wets down it's Wysong Uretic dry, which for some odd reason does not come in dog.

When I was in college I adopted a cat with chronic UTI's.  The shelter I got her from, and a holistic vet tech friend of mine all said that tap water both city and especially well water have minerals in it that cause UTI problems.

My current vet is a little on the holistic side and she said distilled water.  It was the very first thing she recommended before she gave me any other advice.

Also, and I'm sure my mother will not appreciate this, but when she had UTI's her doctor said drink distilled water for a while.

Bottled spring water has added mineral for taste, so I wouldn't use that either.

Here's an article on UTI's in humans. [linkhttp://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/utis.html#General]http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/utis.html#General[/link] Toward the bottom he says "I have successfully treated Urinary Tract Infections..."

    [:(]

I collected a urine from darci in a sterile container that I brought home from work amd took it by the vet and the wouldnt sent it off for culture, because they wanted to draw a sterile specimen out of her with a needle.

I did dip her urine at home and her ph is down to 7.5 this am.
She still has another few days to go on antibiotics, the dip didnt show any blood so hopefully she's getting better, she seems to be feeling better. Her and Egan are chasing each other through the house at full speed right now, look out feet. LOL

I did talk with the vet tech and she's trying to get the vet to start carrying Eagle Pack and Innova are the 2 she's trying to start with, so fingers crossed.

The closest place that carries eagle pack is about an hour away, I had ordered some through petfooddirect on wed, but it takes so long to get here, usually about 8-9 days.

So I am off to drive out of town for dog food today.

Don't stay on distilled water for an extended period of time.....and the distilled water you buy in the grocery store is BAD to consume because this product has picked up aluminum from the big vats they process the water in.  So, home distilled is alright,  but only for short periods of time because  properly distilled water is "empty-sided" in order that it can "pick up" heavy metals and such in the body and "carry" them out.  HOWEVER, in the process, good minerals that our body MUST have to live are also being "carried" out.  So, it is bad to stay on it for long period of time.  Personally, I use a "Pur" water filter at home - the counter top method to get rid of the junk in water.  After much research for my own personal heatlh, I decided on this. If I really had to use distilled water, in order to help pull heavy metals out of my body, then I would only use it about 7 - 10 days out of a month, and the Sears brand distiller is a pretty good model (or at least was a few years ago when I researched this topic).

And from personal experience, I will say that the cranberry caps can bring down the pH fast.  Even too fast.  I only used 1/2 capsule on my guys at a time and monitored the pH regularly.  Blueberries also seem to work.  It only takes a few.  So, monitor the pH when doing any of these methods b/c it can fall in a day - and if given too much, then it can fall too far and quickly become acidic.  So, monitor regularly!!

    Good luck.
