    What Works For Myrt

I have read several post that reminded me of me. I keep hoping to find a better food and away to get Myrt off the Atopica.

I will stick with what works then bam! I go off the deep end! Buy new food and supplements but it's just money down the drain.

I have $100.00 worth of nzymes products,4 other supplements that's probably another $100.00 and I had to order some food that I had hoped Myrt and Frosty could both eat.

I get home from work tonight and I check the place were Myrt's skin always gets the sore.I find a sore that is bleeding. I start kicking myself in the butt because it is my fault it is back.I check Myrt's favorite poop stop and it's not a good site.

I got to get Myrt back on track and keep myself  in check.

This probably needs to be in Health -- what is Myrt taking Atopica for??  Are we talking allergies?

Supplements don't work fast -- and if you are adding supplements AND changing food all at once .. getting hot spots and boom, moving him back off everything you can surely be exacerbating things.  Every single time you switch foods you honestly give the body a whole new range of "allergens" -- and it's NOT just whatever protein source but it is everything in that food (from what they preserve it with, whatever grain, gluten or whatever may make it "stick" together ... and it can even be whatever preservatives were in the meat source **before** the company got the meat to manufacture the food.  In many states the only thing that has to be listed on the label is whatever THAT company put into the bag or can).

But remember -- this is early summer GREEN time, so everything is in bloom and pollen is huge.  Most atopic allergies are at the root of dog allergies.  It may be easy to identify a food as a culprit, but honestly it is typically atopic (inhaled) allergies at the bottom of everything -- often keeping the dog in such a high allergy state ALL the time that all it takes is one tweak with food to cause eruption.  But that food isn't really the cause -- it's just the tip of the iceberg that "shows" if that makes sense.

Have you tried PetGuard Lifespan?  I always am happy to recommend it to people whose dogs are having allergy issues. It works very well for my allergic bichons. They do even better on it than on any other kibble I've tried, including California Natural.

Good luck with your allergy dog, it is, indeed a worry!

I have $100.00 worth of nzymes products

If this is the products you're referring to, I honestly believe they're worthless;   http://www.nzymes.com/pc/

They talk about " systemic yeast infections " on their site. In fact, such infections are very rare and their product will not prevent them.

     Absolutely; it's always best to stay with what works for your dog; I hope Myrt is feeling better soon. {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

Callie, I still do not know what Myrt is allergic too.She would have to be weened off the Atopica and stay off for 45 days before any allergy test.I give it to her every other day.I had been trying to get to where I could give it to her twice a week but that's not meant to be.It does not seen to matter the season.I honestly do not know what I should try to get her off the Atopica. As far as food goes I have no problem with the Royal Canin High Fiber food. She has small firm stools and at times I mix in some canned Instinct chicken.I let her eat some of the new food I got for Frosty.

I always check the AHVMA web site to see if a holistic vet is in my area. The one I would love to take Myrt to Oklahoma City.Dr. Nita McNiell,DMV,B.S.,PHD   www.mustanganimalhealthclinic.com

Shamrockmommy, I have a bag of the PetGuard Lifespan.I got it for Frosty.I'm beginning to wonder if Frosty's system is use to Myrt's high fiber food.Myrt and Frosty are littermates.Frosty has been have poo problems off and on.I was feeding him Flint River Ranch nugget. He likes this food but it sure didn't agree with him on the other end.

jessies_mom,Yes that is the stuff. After reading everything on their web site I knew I had wasted my money. They do have a satisfaction guarantee on their stuff. I just hate taking stuff back.

Thanks for wishing the Myrtie Heifer well.

Man the BEST (absolutely bar none) vet I could refer you to aside from Dr. Joe Demers that I take Billy to would be PJ Broadfoot:

    PBroadfoot@aol.com

This is also a link to a description of the autosang proceedure (which is what Dr. Demers does on Billy -- it ROCKS for allergy dogs!!!)
