Fungus

    Fungus

Abbie was given Animax ointment for a fungus on her back about two months ago. I've been applying it religiously, but it seems like the fungus is spreading. She now has a patch about 3" wide where the hair is gone and the skin is really dry and flaking. Is there something that they can give orally that would help? I don't want her to lose anymore hair.... It doesn't seem to itch or bother her, but it seems to be spreading.

What type of fungus is it? If it's ringworm, you'll need an antifungal topical (we dont use animax a ton at work, so can't remember if it has an antifungal agent in it) or perhaps an oral med if that doesn't clear it up.

I can sympathize, I have a hairy guy who currently has a fungus and the hairloss is really irritating.

It's not ringworm.....he didn't put a name to it, but he said it came from the dirt...... I probably should take her in, although sometimes he will do things over the phone...we've been going there for years and he knows $ is an issue for me right now.

Any oral anti-fungal is really really hard on the liver and hard on her period.

You could try grapefruit seed extract (NOT grapeseed -- grapeFRUIT seed instead).  That's a really decent mild anti-fungal that can really  help.  It's easy on the body.  Jsut one capsule a day for maybe 3 weeks.
