    Willow's Health Update

11/18/08--Update--We got her latest CBC results today.  And, unfortunately, we will not be able to lower the Prednisone at this time.  Her platelets have dropped to 125,000--down from 235,000 when she was on daily Prednisone.  Right now, she's getting 10mg every other day and that's where she will be staying for at least another two weeks.

I'm disappointed but not entirely surprised.  I can actuallly see the inflammation in her body coming back, the poop issue I posted about, her gums look the way they used too again too.  And, she's feeling great, which she was when she was diagnosed.

They are going to recheck her in two weeks including the liver.

Please keep her in your thoughts--I really appreciate it--she's not in remission yet.

OK, I want to call the vet and ask her opinion but I wanted to see what was said here first.

We've had no diet changes and a decrease in Prednisone.

But, not we have for example on one outing a perfect poop, then a softer not so perfect poop.  What could be causing this?

    Thanks.

Stress? Emma's poops get gross, sometimes, when she's stressed.

Of course, that is just a random guess. I hope Willow's tummy doesn't get too bent out of shape.

When it's soft and not formed it's the large intestine's problem.  Often the peristalsis that moves everything along for some reason goes too fast so not enough moisture is taken out of the fecal matter.  The peristalsis can be connected with stress -- and any stress (happy stress as well as bad stress).  It's just the nature of *that* body.

for Kee and I both, that's when I'll give a bit of valerian root -- it calms down the peristalsis so it's not pulsing so fast and that usually resolves it.  (Sorry --I have too much personal experience here *sigh*)

Woobie goes runny with exercise and excitement.  Could it be related to the decrease in Pred allowing a return/flare of inflammation?

That's what I'm sort of worried about because she was perfect all summer on the Pred.  I just don't know what or if anything can be done about it??
